While playing online casinos, online lotteries or online sports betting may be a similar experience across countries, there are certain differences in onboarding dictated by specific regulatory environments. This is why gambling operators, especially those that are keen to expand into new territories, need to be aware of every nuance of the customer onboarding process, every regulatory environment and every document or data point required to be compliant and help prevent fraud. Doing all this is no easy task, so it’s never been more important to offer more than the bare minimum of identity checks. “While onboarding requirements differ across regions, at IDnow, we believe it is crucial to protect vulnerable individuals and verify that customers are who they claim to be, regardless of the market. This is why, to enhance security and minimize risk, we recommend going beyond the basic identity checks by integrating additional screening measures early in the customer journey,” said Roger Redfearn-Tyrzyk, VP of Global Gaming at IDnow. In the below blog, we explain how operators should really be onboarding players in some of the world’s largest gambling markets and the dangers in not doing so…

International Fraud Awareness Week, organized by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), is taking place this week and once again, aims to raise public awareness of the important issue of combating fraud ⚔ Supported by organizations such as IDnow, the week serves as an appeal to managers, employees and the general public to take the dangers of online fraud seriously and take action against it. 💪 The first step to take action is awareness 💡 That’s why we surveyed more than 2,000 UK adults for our IDnow UK Fraud Awareness Report 2024. In the survey, we asked what the British public thinks about fraud in the UK, and what types of fraud they believe pose the biggest threat. The report shines a spotlight on the prevalence of fraud in the UK, especially in the banking sector, and suggests where consumer education needs to focus in the future. The results reveal a shocking disparity in awareness of the different types of fraud, as well as some worrying behavioral trends. Grigory Yusupov, Regional Director UK and Rest of the World (ROW) at IDnow, says: “Fraud Awareness Week reminds us that fraud prevention is in the interests of society as a whole. Only through joint commitment and consistent investment in training measures and new technologies can the ever-growing threat of online fraud and cybercrime be effectively countered.” 🔗 Find the full IDnow UK Fraud Awareness Report 2024 here: https://lnkd.in/gs6pPZ_p #fraudweek
