From Assembly Line to AI: De-skilling, Re-skilling, and the Future Workforce Inspired by Ian Barkin’s recent article (link below) on AI’s evolution from generative to “agentic” AI, I dove into the historical parallels to Ford’s assembly line and today’s AI technologies. 🛠️💼 This piece brings together many insightful discussions of the past weeks and months! Conversations with Peter Bormann and Christian M. Mzyk 💻 from WAITS GmbH sparked some intensive thoughts on de-skilling and re-skilling on my end, a discussion I hope to deepen soon! I inevitably have to think about Susan Walsh and her appearance on Basico's AI Lead Lasse Rindom's podcast, #TheOnlyConstant, where structured data’s role in classical RPA automation -- and generative AI’s potential to suddenly work with unstructured data, became clearer. 🎙️📊 A shoutout also to IBM's Andreas Horn for spotlighting IBM’s now open-source Bee framework, a move toward transparent, supervised agentic AI. Reflecting on an article co-written with Bill Shube months ago, we claimed that “anyone can automate,” -- it becomes evident that while automation is within reach for many, it’s those who commit to learning and up-skilling who will thrive. That being said, a nod to Stine Høiberg Rasmussen and Anders Jensen for their up-skilling initiatives through I Love Automation, making growth alongside the rapid developments in RPA and AI accessible for all. 🌟 What are your thoughts on AI’s impact on skills in your field? Let’s keep this conversation going! 🔄💬 Here's the Link to Ian's article: https://lnkd.in/e7g9JwfJ #AI #Automation #GenerativeAI #AgenticAI #Reskilling #Upskilling #FutureOfWork #RPA #OpenSource #Collaboration #Innovation
