Beyond proud to see our CEO Matthias Henze advocate for small businesses on the global stage, collaborating with policymakers and experts to shape entrepreneurial ecosystems 🌐 🫶. Check out the insights below from the recent OECD - OCDE roundtable hosted by ERIA: Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia in Jakarta! 👇 https://lnkd.in/ebW_rZX7
The third #EECOLE roundtable (AI and Entrepreneurial Ecosystems), hosted by ERIA Digital Innovation and Sustainable Economy Centre (E-DISC) in Jakarta, Indonesia, brought together experts from Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the Americas to explore the role of Generative AI (#GenAI) in transforming entrepreneurial ecosystems—especially for #MSMEs. ▶️ GenAI as a Tool for MSMEs Beyond supporting routine tasks, GenAI offers MSMEs the opportunity to experiment, prototype, and innovate, significantly boosting productivity. New businesses are emerging, offering GenAI-based services tailored to MSMEs, enabling entrepreneurs to focus on growth rather than getting bogged down in day-to-day operations. However, the path to adoption isn’t without risks, including cybersecurity threats, data reliability issues, and the challenge of identifying the right solutions. Discussions also centered on the need for a human-centric approach to AI, with frameworks like the EU’s regulations ensuring safety, inclusivity, and efficiency. ▶️ Entrepreneurial Ecosystems as Catalysts Entrepreneurial ecosystems are critical for enabling GenAI adoption and mitigating its risks. These ecosystems foster communities of practice, building social capital, entrepreneurial skills, and trust. Collaboration among governments, private sectors, MSMEs, and academic institutions is key to facilitating this transformation. Initiatives like reverse mentoring and short-cycle education are effective tools to bridge knowledge gaps and address challenges such as data governance and interoperability, seen in both high-income and emerging economies. ▶️Place-Responsive Policies for Local Innovation A key takeaway was the need for place-responsive policies that align international innovation networks with local community needs. These policies should consider regional strengths, mobilize local institutions, and attract talent. It's essential to recognize the different stages of innovation within MSME communities and tailor policies accordingly. Whether focused on early-stage innovation or more advanced phases, targeted, place-based strategies can drive meaningful and inclusive growth. After successful roundtables in Paris (2022) and Toronto (2023), the EECOLE community was excited to meet in Jakarta, marking its first gathering in Asia. This event offered a unique opportunity to connect with Indonesia’s vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem, including startups, innovation intermediaries, and key players driving the region’s economic transformation. As Indonesia embarks on its journey toward OECD membership, we look forward to deepening collaboration with the region, leveraging shared insights, and building partnerships to support inclusive, sustainable innovation on a international scale. EECOLE is a platform of the OECD Centre for Entrepreneurship, SMEs, Regions & Cities. #AI #GenerativeAI #Entrepreneurship #MSMEs #InnovationEcosystems #PlaceBasedPolicies #Collaboration #OECD #SustainableDevelopment

Last week, one of our product teams gathered in Hamburg for an in-person offsite, with some teammates joining online, to focus on understanding our customers’ needs. This two-day event was all about digging into small businesses’ day-to-day, hearing firsthand about their challenges, and brainstorming ways to bring them more value 💡 Of course, the team made time to connect too, including over small drinks and dinner tasting hosted by The Whisky Jack 😍 A big highlight was a series of face-to-face interviews with four small businesses in Hamburg. These conversations gave the team real insight into how they manage their businesses, the pain points they face, and the ways they currently work through them. Now, the team is diving into creating and testing solutions that could help solve these challenges ✨ Watch this space!

This week, our CTO, Felipe Furlan da Silva, and Senior Staff Engineer, Bijan Chokoufe Nejad, took part in Cloudflare's first-ever Immersive event in Zurich! Felipe took the stage, sharing Jimdo's journey and the challenges we've tackled over the past two years. Thank you, Cloudflare and Kerstin Wadenka, for the invitation! One of the biggest highlights? Following Felipe's talk, many attendees came up to him and shared their own Jimdo stories, with some saying Jimdo was where they built their very first website, sometimes over a decade ago. Hearing feedback like this fuels our passion and pride in what we’re building at Jimdo ❤️ Here’s to more milestones, more connections, and inspiring stories ahead! 🚀 #Jimdo #Cloudflare
