New on the Just Access #Blog! Read Part 1 of Legal Fellows Fitri Lestari and Delasari Krisda Putri's post on the risks posed by the #climatecrisis to #domesticworkers in #Indonesia, and why domestic workers need additional protections. Domestic workers and unseen and unprotected. The effects of #climatechange are particularly severe for #low-income individuals and those with limited resources, especially in the rural areas of the #GlobalSouth. This crisis goes beyond being an #environmental catastrophe, and it represents a profound structural challenge that deepens inequalities for #marginalised communities. This issue is particularly severe for Indonesian domestic workers, and during climate-related #disasters like hurricanes, #floods, #heatwaves, and typhoons, domestic workers are often required to continue working in unsafe conditions. These hazardous conditions can exacerbate workers’ health issues, which leads to chronic illnesses such as asthma, kidney disease, or heart disease while also increasing stress and disabilities. 🔔New on the Just Access e.V. #Blog! In part two of her report from #COP29, Jeanette Baumann asks what future there is for the #polluterpays principle after Baku, and argues that we need to mobilise now for a stronger outcome in Belém, #COP30. COP29 took place from 11 November to 2 December in Baku, Azerbaijan. It was hailed as the “Finance COP”, but it signally failed to deliver. Now, all eyes are turning to Belém and COP30. But we cannot afford to always be looking to ‘next year’, ducking the difficult choices, putting off the hard decisions, and going back to fix the bad compromises of previous years. If Baku has shown us anything, it’s that we don’t have too many ‘next years’ left. Read now! 👇 https://lnkd.in/e75fut5Q

Just Access e.V. hat dies direkt geteilt
Beyond the glitter surrounding annual COP gatherings, there is the crude reality that efforts to make the world resilient are unable to transcend lip service. ''the very States that are least able to cope with climate change’s effects are those who will bear the brunt of its devastating impacts''

COP29 took place from 11 November to 2 December in Baku, Azerbaijan. It was hailed as the “Finance COP”, but it signally failed to deliver. The post reports on the outcome of the Baku COP and asks, on this showing, are negotiations on loss and damage irrevocably bound to fail? Read now! 👇 https://lnkd.in/eHx6p87B
