🎄 Yesterday, many people around the world celebrated the first day of Advent. This means that Christmas is just around the corner for them. Living in dynamic times, it is good that there are some constants. For example, our Christmas campaign, which has been running since 2018 - a great example of corporate responsibility for social issues. 👩👩👧👧 As part of the campaign, we offer Knorr-Bremse AG employees at the Munich site the opportunity to participate in social change. This year, organizations on the topic of “Social Cohesion - Promotion of Democracy & Inclusion of Marginalized Groups” are being supported: 🧓 Freunde alter Menschen e.V.: For the social participation of the elderly The association promotes intergenerational friendships and offers individual support through visiting partnerships and events. Bettina Fink 🧒 Center for Democratic Youth Education of the Kreisjugendring München-Stadt: For democratic values The center for democratic youth education offers educational events for young people on the topics of democracy, human rights and remembrance work. 🎵 KulturRaum München e.V.: For cultural participation The purpose of the association is to give people affected by poverty or loneliness access to cultural life and, at the same time, to promote culture in Munich. Katharina Maurer 🧧 We are donating a total amount of 50,000 euros, which will be distributed proportionally between the three organizations based on the result of the employee vote. We also offer the option of donating to the organizations individually. And the best thing about it? We at Knorr-Bremse Global Care will double all individual donations! We look forward to a lively participation of our employees and wish the organizations every success! #TeamKnorrBremse #OneKBOneWorld

We create prospects for people in need - worldwide and in the vicinity of Knorr-Bremse sites.
Info
Knorr-Bremse Global Care is a global non-profit organization set up by Knorr-Bremse employees to offer new prospects to people who find themselves in need through no fault of their own. It supports projects run by partner organizations in three areas: water, sanitation & hygiene (WASH), education and emergency relief. Knorr-Bremse Global Care works primarily in countries with Knorr-Bremse sites so that it can maintain direct contact, wherever possible, with the supported projects, raise awareness of social causes among employees and motivate them to play an active role themselves. Knorr-Bremse Global Care was set up in 2005 following the devastating tsunami in South-East Asia and has since reached more than 900,000 people through over 400 projects. The Knorr-Bremse Group supports Global Care through regular donations. This is one of the manifestations of corporate social responsibility at Knorr-Bremse. Today is World Toilet Day! Making noise about the quiet room. In 2024, Knorr-Bremse Global Care supported the German Toilet Organization (GTO) in organizing the nationwide competition Toilets making the Grade® and the 1st German School Toilet Summit. The results paper of the summit is now available. 🚽 The 1st German School Toilet Summit was a great success and we are delighted to have been able to contribute to it! The summit was the first nationwide meeting of a wide range of stakeholders who play a role in improving school toilets. In addition to honoring the winning schools of the competition, there were high-profile speeches, expert presentations, inspiring discussions and valuable group work. The coverage of the event was outstanding - with over 600 media reports. The results paper has been published here and is available for distribution. You can find photo and video impressions of the event here: https://lnkd.in/envnGK6r 🚰 Knorr-Bremse Global Care supports projects under SDG 6 focusing on the reduction of waterborne diseases. Yesterday, our colleagues Alexandra Rappl and Laszlo Szentmarjay had the extraordinary honor of attending the 10th anniversary celebration of our long-standing strategic partner DEIN MÜNCHEN gGmbH. 👩👩👧👧 It was a very special evening. To see what Mara Bertling and her team, Katja Schubert, Stefanie Lill, Veronika Hofstätter, Bettina Weber am Bach, Rebecca Gutwald and so many more have achieved in this time makes a lasting impression. They start where schools, parents and institutions often reach their limits. 🎒 Beginning with an initiative to visit the Oktoberfest, thousands of young people have now gone through their programs to discover their potential and get the feeling that the world is open to them - regardless of their backgrounds. 💙 Listening to their stories is touching the heart. The positive paths they take are all very individual. They show us how valuable it is to believe deeply and firmly in their potential and to have the #MutAufZukunft (CourageForFuture) together. 💡 Speaking of the future: In her keynote speech, Florence Gaub encouraged us to think about it more often. The future is always happening in the here and now, not far away in time. Our own power to shape the future therefore takes center stage, and with it our actions to achieve our goals. 🎂 Congratulations again Dein München. To the next 10, 20, maybe even 50 years with #MutAufZukunft. #TeamKnorrBremse

Knorr-Bremse Global Care Asia Pacific (KBGC) and The Education for Development Foundation (EDF) Bangkok Thailand. 🤝 KBGC & EDF have partnered since June 2021 a highly successful Scholarship program for underprivileged youths in the Chachoengsao Province. 💖 An extension to this scholarship program was signed in August this year for supporting 25 students (aged 18/19) that wished to progress their education to a higher standard. 🗣 Part of this program is to include English language sessions. These lessons are held online via Zoom sessions, with volunteers from our Knorr Bremse companies in Australia (KBA) and Thailand (KBT). These online sessions are very rewarding for both the students and volunteers. Here are just a few statements from the volunteers: 🙂 Thomas Gethin (KBA): Being able to support the program and help provide an opportunity for education is highly rewarding. The students are keen to learn, and although very shy at first, get involved with various practice activities with a little encouragement. I hope the students enjoy the regular practice sessions as much as we do as volunteers, and I look forward to seeing the positive change in their English language skills and confidence. 🙂 Michael Hitchcock (KBA): I think its rewarding to see these young adults starting to come out of their shells a bit and learn I am finding the young women are taking the reigns and stepping up…its amazing. 🙂 Sascha Tschepen (KBA): It’s has been an interesting journey so far, and my feeling is that the student are getting more comfortable and are slowly opening up. One is less of a stranger. As expected, some are more reserved and others are braver and have the courage to speak a bit. I enjoy seeing the smile on there faces when they get it right. 🙂 Pimpreeya Noragankron (KBT); It’s been an absolute privilege to be a part of this program and to have the opportunity to share my knowledge of the English language with these bright young minds. Witnessing their growth and progress has been incredibly rewarding. I hope that through this program, they have not only developed their language skills but have also gained a greater appreciation for the English language and its diverse cultures. I look forward to seeing the amazing things they will accomplish in the future. 🤗 We also have two other wonderful volunteers :- (Thank you both for supporting) KBA Shirley Li KBT Smith Thapyar. 🙏 Special thank you to the amazing dedicated team from EDF and especially for the students who make these sessions so rewarding for all. # Knorr-Bremse Australia # Knorr-Bremse Thailand CVS # The Education for Development Foundation Bangkok Thailand.

This semester, we had the honor of commemorating the life and legacy of our esteemed colleague, volunteer, and advisor at Knorr-Bremse Brasil and Instituto Anchieta Grajau, Dr. Rudolf Gerich. In his memory, we planted trees, symbolizing the enduring and positive impact he made on our lives, our community, and the environment. Rudolf was the driving force in fostering initiatives of Knorr-Bremse Global Care in Brazil. His dedication to fighting poverty, promoting quality education, and reducing inequalities is evident through his visionary projects such as Entrepreneurs Women, Horticulturists Courses, and Youth Financial and Career Orientation. These initiatives, along with many other significant actions, have greatly contributed to advancing the UN SDGs in our community. We are profoundly grateful for his almost 50 years of unwavering dedication and the lasting legacy he has left behind. 🤍 #TeamKnorrBremse #CommunitySupport #IAG

🎒 Preparing schoolbags for the new school year! 🎒 On September 4, seven Knorr-Bremse employees volunteered their time to pack schoolbags for the “Bunte Münchner Kindl” organization, which provides low-income families in Munich with free school supplies. ✒ 📐 🖍 The organization has been a partner of Knorr-Bremse Global Care e.V. since 2017. 👉 Based on requests from Munich schools and social service centers, a team of volunteers works throughout the year to put together individual school supplies according to the need of the children. The organization even includes school cones with all first-grader orders. The donated materials are then either delivered to the schools or collected by the families themselves. By lending the team a hand, our Knorr-Bremse employees made a practical contribution to ensuring that children in Munich receive equal educational opportunities regardless of their parents’ income. ↪ If you too are interested in helping, feel free to contact “Bunte Münchner Kindl” directly at helfen@bunte-muenchner-kindl.de and make a difference as a volunteer 🙌 #CorporateVolunteering #BunteMünchnerKindl #SchoolBagPackingAction #TeamKnorrBremse

🏔 A few weeks ago, the entire Knorr-Bremse Global Care Team gathered in front of the picturesque mountain backdrop of the Alps to hold its annual strategic workshop. 🏹 We continued to work on sharpening our work content in the fields of #SDG4 and #SDG6 as well as our intended mode of action - with a special focus on our diverse target groups, Knorr-Bremse employees, our many partner organizations and beneficiaries. 🙏 At this point, we would also like to thank the wonderful Maja Hebel, who has been accompanying us in this process for several months in an extremely competent, emotional and cordial way and without whom we would certainly not have come this far. ⚽ Furthermore, we exchanged with our strategic partner AMANDLA Social Enterprises about the latest developments on the Safe-Hub Global as well as upcoming - extremely interesting and innovative - steps. This cooperation is very special for us, both in terms of content and above all on a personal level, and we are looking forward to continuing to grow together and to achieve further success in the interests of young people worldwide with Florian Zech, Jakob Schlichtig, Annika Beste and the other colleagues. 👨👩👧👧 In addition to work, personal get-together was not neglected. We had a wonderful trip to Germany's highest mountain, the Zugspitze. 🎳 And it was also sporty. A trial of strength in the form of a ninepins competition spurred everyone on to top performances. 📅 Between September 2021 and May 2023 Knorr-Bremse Global Care Asia Pacific Limited together with The Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Fund (SIE Fund) funded the ‘Reconnect with Forest Nature Immersion Programme’ of Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden (KFBG) in Hong Kong. 🧒 161 individuals in seven cohorts participated in the six-weeks programme, which aimed for offering participants experiential learning to connect with nature and foster positive relationships with themselves, others, and the natural world. 💡 Feedbacks of participants (pupils and parents) shows splendidly results: Not only did we experience a growth in self-awareness, relationship building, and environmental stewardship. But also, an exceeding aim around confidence, collaboration, and curiosity. Lastly, we were also experiencing a more empowering and significant impact effect of the programme on participants joining as families. Watch the video to get more insights into the pogramme.

Acuña, Mexico, is one hot place during the summer, with temperatures often exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit. A local children’s home, Casa Hogar Esperanza, found the cost of running its air conditioning units to be prohibitive after a local company that had been paying for the electricity changed leadership and ended its charitable support. The home tried to keep the children cool by using the units only sparingly. KBGCNA contributed $107,350 in grant funding toward a 136-panel rooftop photovoltaic system to generate electricity for the home. The Bendix Foundation, directed by Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC (Bendix), contributed $28,200 to the project. Additionally, Bendix donated the solar panels, which reduced the overall project cost by $24,000. The grants funded the purchase and installation of the system and transformer, along with maintenance for 20 years, insurance, and remote oversight. The system has begun going online in stages. Once the home can use 100% of the energy produced by the panels, the system is calculated to reduce electricity costs by almost 90% while enabling the operation of the HVAC units. Average monthly savings are expected to be about $2,500. The energy generation is so significant that the units will essentially run for free. “Our support for Casa Hogar Esperanza and its children goes back many years, and we’re pleased to help meet their need for cost-efficient cooling,” said Maria Gutierrez, president of KBGCNA and senior director of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) at Bendix. “The effort aligns with KBGCNA’s larger mission to contribute to the well-being of underserved populations in the surrounding communities of Knorr-Bremse’s North American companies. Making a positive difference in the communities we call home is incredibly important.” Read more about this project: https://lnkd.in/gmhyhabZ #WeMoveTogether #CommunitySupport #LifeAtBendix 💙
