Shaping sustainable events across the globe🏆 We are proud to report that Koelnmesse Pte Ltd in Singapore officially achieved SILVER certification under the new Singapore MICE Sustainability Certification (MSC) framework this week. 🔹 We are now among the first dozen companies in Singapore’s MICE industry to achieve this certification after an external audit. 🔹 In the process, two of our staff members obtained the Certified Event Sustainability (CES) Accreditation, reinforcing our commitment to expertise in sustainable event management. The MICE industry (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) is evolving – moving beyond business connections toward a greater focus on sustainability and a greener future. That is why the Singapore Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers & Suppliers (SACEOS) and the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) launched the Singapore MICE Sustainability Roadmap, setting targets for the industry in Singapore: ✅ All trade fair venues and 80% of relevant SACEOS members are to obtain sustainability certification. ✅ Industry-wide commitment to reducing environmental impact and driving sustainability in events. To support this, the MSC certification was introduced in January 2024 for event organisers, venues, stand builders, freight forwarders, caterers and suppliers – with audits conducted by TÜV SÜD. Germany has voted – Koelnmesse as a postal vote counting center 📮 Koelnmesse played a central role in the early election for the German Bundestag. Our exhibition centre served as the postal vote counting centre: about 300,000 Cologne residents – roughly 40% of eligible voters – made use of postal voting. ✉️ Yesterday, over 4,000 election helpers gathered in Hall 10.2 to count these votes after the official opening by election supervisor Andrea Blome and Cologne’s Mayor Henriette Reker. Success, expansion, sustainability – our anniversary year in numbers 📊 2024 – the year of our 100th anniversary – was a true milestone for Koelnmesse. With a revenue of approximately 365 million euros and a profit of around 20 million euros (preliminary figures), we remain stable and future-proof in an ever-evolving market. 💡 💬 CEO Gerald Böse: "Our anniversary year was a time to reflect on our roots while keeping our focus firmly on the future. Yesterday, Horst Harbusch-Geier represented Koelnmesse GmbH at the leading energy trade fair, E-world energy & water in Essen, to talk about our groundbreaking energy project in his role as Koelnmesse’s Head of Infrastructure. 🙌 In collaboration with E.ON Energy Infrastructure Solutions, we are currently transitioning the world's eighth-largest trade fair ground to geothermal energy. From pink to green 💗💚 ISM Cologne 2025 is over, but a new story is just beginning. The striking pink carpet that welcomed 32,000 trade visitors to this year’s ISM confectionery trade fair was something truly special: for the first time, Koelnmesse used a Cradle to Cradle Certified carpet for all its corridors. 🙌 This means that the pink flooring was not only made largely from recycled plastic but was also collected by the supplier after the event to be fully recycled. To enable this process, the carpet was made from a single material, allowing the rolls to be shredded whole, melted down and turned into raw material for new products – without the need to manually separate different components. 💡 Koelnmesse even optimised the collection process for the roughly 16,000 square metres of carpet specifically for recycling. Given the tight post-event schedule, carpet specialists began their work even before the official dismantling on Wednesday, carefully rolling up and transporting the carpet to prevent contamination or damage from forklifts or construction work. This ensures that as much of the valuable material as possible is preserved for recycling. ♻️ With the ISM Cologne carpet, Koelnmesse is implementing its circular economy principle for trade fair materials at this scale for the first time.
