Motherson and Sanko Japan have formed a joint venture to provide sustainable packaging solutions across India and Europe. This collaboration is another step in line with Motherson’s Vision of becoming a globally preferred sustainable solutions provider. By focusing on developing reusable and sustainable packaging solutions, this partnership integrates well with Motherson’s efforts towards decarbonisation. Sanko is Japan's leading plastic material handling product manufacturer and a prominent company in sustainable packaging solutions.  It serves a diverse range of industries and has strong engineering capabilities. It also has an in-house technical centre to develop structurally and technically engineered products for durability, reusability, and full recyclability. The joint venture will contribute to greater efficiencies in material handling with cost reduction in overall logistics spending. Motherson announces its acquisition of Atsumitec Co., Ltd., a company that specialises in high-precision machined components, including gear shifters and transmission parts for four-wheeler (4W) and two-wheeler (2W) vehicles. This strategic acquisition strengthens Motherson's relationship with Honda Motors and also serves as a catalyst for expanding its metal business. This acquisition significantly enhances Motherson's presence among Japanese original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and diversifies its product offerings, particularly chassis and transmission components for 4W and 2W vehicles. It will also provide Motherson access to global machining capabilities that complement its existing metal machining operations in India and Mexico. The transaction is expected to be closed by the first quarter of FY 2025-26 and will be executed in multiple steps, culminating in a shareholding of Motherson 95%: 5% Honda Motors. Atsumitec operates nine facilities across Japan, China, the United States, Mexico, Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam, enabling Motherson to leverage a broader manufacturing footprint. Motherson recently showcased its commitment to innovation and collaboration at the IZB (Internationale Zuliefererbörse) fair, held from October 22nd to 24th in Wolfsburg, Germany. This year’s theme, “Empowering Partnerships,” emphasised the critical role of strategic alliances between OEMs and supplier companies in navigating the rapidly evolving automotive landscape. Our booth, located in Hall 1 (booth 1309), was a hub of activity, featuring our extensive expertise in plastics, interiors, modules, and more. Various divisions participated, including Modules & Polymer Products - SMP Automotive Global, Motherson DRSC Deutschland GmbH, Vision Systems- SMR Automotive Global, and Integrated Assemblies- Motherson SAS, each highlighting their unique capabilities and innovations.
