Program Manager Sustainability & Consultant at Munich Airport International | Sustainability, NetZero, Facility Management, Innovation

This week marks an exciting milestone in my career. Not only will I be attending the #COP for the first time, but I will also be a co-speaker. Together with Antoaneta Stoyanova, PMP® and Boyan Mitov we will be representing the successful partnership between Munich Airport International and SOF Connect. During the panel discussion, we will share insights on the key measures Sofia Airport is taking to adapt to and mitigate the effects of climate change. A highlight of the discussion will be Sofia Airport's ambitious plans for the new Terminal 3, which will be designed and certified to BREEAM standards - demonstrating excellence in sustainable design and environmental performance. Additionally, we will be highlighting Sofia Airports climate actions towards #NetZero by 2040. Only this year the newly developed decarbonization strategy resulted in the award of Airport Carbon Accreditation at Level 4. If you are in Baku feel free to join us at the Bulgarian Pavilion tomorrow Wednesday 20.11.2024 11:30 for the discussion on "Airport resilience to climate change and decarbonization in south-east Europe" #NetZero #COP29

𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁‘𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 💯!   Facility management (FM) of an airport is a complex field, starting from maintenance of baggage handling systems to snow removal on the aprons. Usually, it is split across a wide range of units and departments. This bears the risk of poor communication between the respective parties, ineffective asset management and inefficient usage of resources. Having supported airports around the world in various FM projects, we have developed an integrated approach to facility management, placing FM under a central management, thus preventing communication shortcomings, and ensuring a more efficient allocation of resources. In our latest article our consultant Thomas Riepler introduces you to the concept of Integrated Facility Management and gives an outlook into future developments.   Don’t miss out and learn how to make your airport’s facility management more efficient!   👉  read the whole article here: https://lnkd.in/dtZjkRfF #FacilityManagement #IntegratedFacilityManagement #AirportInnovation #ShapingTheFutureOfAirports

#Meet Oliver, our Project Manager Strategy & Corporate Development! Oliver is a key member of our team with over 15 years of experience in the aviation industry. He started his career at Munich Airport in the field of political advisory. With his move to in-house Consulting, Oliver turned his focus to the strategic development of Munich Airport. Acting as an internal Management Consultant, he has been leading complex, cross-divisional programs and transformation projects. Since November 2021, he has been involved in MAI's Corporate Development Team. In addition, Oliver leads MAI’s Advanced Air Mobility (#AAM) activities globally.   𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲-𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆? In my experience, a clear purpose-driven strategy is essential for guiding a company into the future. A shared understanding of the organization’s “why” and “where to” – internalized by leadership as well as staff - lays the foundation for actions, effective decision-making, boosts motivation, and strengthens employer branding. Besides that, market focus, operational resilience, partnerships, data management, a lean organizational design and a culture of trust decide on commercial success.   𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰? Airports must ensure “the essentials”: Passengers travelling happy, safe and on time with their bags. Since Covid, however, this is no longer a given at many airports globally. As the industry rebounds from recent disruptions, fostering resilience will be important. This includes improvement of supply chains, the corporate organizations and enhancing operational and financial management strategies. Securing the necessary capital for transformative initiatives will be crucial to move forward. However, numerous airports worldwide are already facing financial challenges today and are reliant on private or private-public funding to develop and maintain essential infrastructure. Innovative financing models will become more important, moving forward.   𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱? The ongoing digital transformation as well as innovative sense-of-place concepts present opportunities to streamline operations and infrastructure and enhance the passenger experience beyond “the essentials”. Furthermore, investing into sustainable technology does not only meet regulatory demands but enhances corporate citizenship and brand reputation. In this context airports will increasingly transition into multi-modal mobility hubs, blending aviation with electric and hydrogen powered vehicles, public transportation, and advanced air mobility options such as eVTOLs. Therefore, airports will need to start shifting towards becoming “energy ports” to meet future demands for sustainable energy sources. #ShapingTheFutureOfAirports
