Make small things matter. In 2007, a team of researchers from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) set out to rethink microfabrication. At that time, Two-Photon Polymerization (2PP), the underlying core physics and chemistry for the Nanoscribe technology, was a small niche research topic. The founders however recognized the potential and made 2PP-based 3D printers commercially available. Besides the 2PP-based 3D Microfabrication technology, Nanoscribe revealed its proprietary Two-Photon Grayscale Lithography (2GL ®) with presenting the maskless lithography platform Quantum X in 2019. 2GL combines 2PP with the qualities of grayscale lithography and thus enables rapid and precise microfabrication of ultra-smooth surfaces and structures with excellent shape accuracy in 2D and 2.5D. Providing hardware, software, materials and processes as a complete solution is the key to our customers’ success today and the crucial driver for applications in a wide variety of sectors such as life sciences, microoptics, material engineering, microfluidics, micromechanics and MEMS. Now, Nanoscribe has over 100 employees, operates subsidiaries in Shanghai (China) and Boston (US) and is a member of the BICO Group (formerly CELLINK) since June 2021. Our customers and more than 5,500 active operators are based in more than 30 countries worldwide, in science as well as in industry. Breakthrough research is highlighted in more than 1,800 peer-reviewed journal publications. We are actively involved in promising research and development projects with partners from science, research, industry and we also cooperate with our customers in many projects. As market and technology leader in our field, our high-precision 3D printers and maskless lithography systems are established as fundamental tools in nano-, micro- and mesoscale fabrication. ✨ 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗕𝗪 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰! ✨ https://lnkd.in/egGVq3hZ Nanoscribe was pleased to host this focused event, bringing together experts and enthusiasts from the photonics community in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The forum served as a platform for networking and sharing insights on the fabrication, testing and applications of photonic integrated circuits. Our CEO, Martin Hermatschweiler, welcomed the attendees and set the tone for a day of sharing and innovation. In his keynote speech Dr. Dominic Schulz , Fraunhofer HHI, discussed the potential of photonic integrated circuits (PICs) for communication and sensing. Dr. Michael Thiel, CSO at Nanoscribe, then opened the technical program and gave a deeper insight into Aligned 2-Photon Lithography A2PL® as a versatile and scalable solution for photonics packaging. Dr. Frank Gindele of Scantinel Photonics focused on the optical and thermal challenges in LiDAR applications and Prof. Markus Schmidt , Leibniz IPHT, introduced 3D nanoprinted metasurfaces on fiber end faces and on-chip light cages. Dr. Jan Schorer , Hensoldt Sensors, talked about the challenges for PICs in harsh environments and Otmar Foehner, Aixemtec, highlighted quality assurance and automated test procedures for PICs. All in all, we had a clear view of the strengths and potential of PICs, the range of manufacturing technologies, and the challenges facing this new market. The excitement continued with a live demonstration of our Quantum X align system during the lab tour. Attendees experienced first-hand how our Aligned 2-Photon Lithography (A2PL®) technology enables 3D printing of low-loss optical couplers that are automatically aligned to fiducials on various types of photonic chips and optical fibers. We are proud to support Photonics BW e.V. and its mission to foster innovation and collaboration within the photonics industry in Southern Germany. A big thank you to all speakers, attendees and organizers for making this event such a success! 💡 Together we shape the future of photonics 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗺 𝗫 𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻 👉 https://lnkd.in/egGVq3hZ #Photonics #Innovation #PhotonicsBW #Nanoscribe

Excited to participate in this year’s Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften! At our stand, we’ll be presenting what we call the smallest slide projector in the world — a monolithically integrated projector built on the tip of an optical fiber. This achievement was made possible through a close collaboration with Printoptix GmbH using advanced optical 3D printing by Nanoscribe technology. To miniaturize the projector onto an optical fiber, we developed a new slide projection technique. The displayed image is encoded within the surface topography of the slide, making it entirely transparent—a counterintuitive yet fascinating approach. Explaining and visualizing such a complex concept in an accessible way wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible help of: ✨ Henry Holland Moritz (https://lnkd.in/gcqyq_mF), who created a captivating comic that brings the science to life and makes it understandable to everyone. ✨ LICHTWERKSTATT JENA – Open Photonics Makerspace & Johannes Kretzschmar, for their hands-on creativity and for realizing an interactive experiment that allows visitors to explore the concept themselves. By using prisms as pixels, they designed a transparent projection slide for an overhead projector, where hidden images in the projection slide can be revealed interactively. This collaboration has been a wonderful opportunity to combine innovative technology with engaging tools for science communication. We hope these experiments and the comic will spark curiosity and inspire visitors of all ages! A big thank you to Printoptix GmbH, Henry, Johannes Kretzschmar & Ronald Smolka—your creativity and expertise made this truly special. Looking forward to meeting many of you tomorrow and sharing the wonders of science and technology together with Lars-Christian Wittig, Marco Hanft and many more at the stand of ZEISS Group! 🧑🔬💡 #ScienceOutreach #LangeNachtDerWissenschaften #OpticalFiber #3DPrinting #Collaboration
