  • 🌟🔋 Improving Li-ion Battery Performance with PVDF Binder Analysis 🌟🔋 At NETZSCH, we continue to push the boundaries of materials characterization for battery innovation. 🔋💡 Our latest application note, "Characterization of PVDF Binder for Li-Ion Batteries by Means of TGA-FT-IR," demonstrates how advanced analytical techniques can drive improvements in battery performance and sustainability. Key Insights: 🔍 Thermal stability and decomposition behavior of PVDF binders were thoroughly analyzed using TGA-FT-IR systems by NETZSCH and Bruker Optics. 🌡️ Three distinct pyrolysis steps and combustion of pyrolytic carbon were observed, providing insight into material behavior at high temperatures. 🌬️ Gas phase analysis identified hydrogen fluoride and silicon fluoride among the gases evolved , critical to understanding safety and processing implications. ♻️ NMP (N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone), essential for electrode preparation, was shown to evaporate without degradation, confirming its recyclability in battery manufacturing. This study exemplifies the power of NETZSCH analysis instruments to provide detailed insights that improve both quality and sustainability in Li-ion battery development.
