📢 𝗡𝗚𝗠𝗡 𝘂𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗶𝗹𝘀 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 Disaggregated network architectures are one of the most transformative trends in the #mobile industry, with a significant global increase testing and deployment by operators. 🌐 #NGMN has today released four short publications to provide high level guidance for CTOs and decision makers and define #disaggregation models for the most relevant and widely used deployment and operating scenarios in the industry. “This transition fundamentally changes how operators work internally and collaborate with the broader supplier ecosystem. With these publications, NGMN is taking the lead by offering practical, actionable guidance on the key operating models available today and helping operators navigate this shift effectively,” said Arash Ashouriha, Chairman of the NGMN Alliance Board and SVP Group Technology at Deutsche Telekom. The publications build on NGMN’s Cloud Native Manifesto released in September 2023, which outlined seven key principles for accelerating the transition to cloud native networking and with a goal of highlighting the wide range of options available to the industry. 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 By dismantling traditional, monolithic structures, #disaggregation is revolutionising #mobilenetworks with unmatched flexibility and scalability, paving the way for greater industry innovation. Collaboration among industry partners - including MNOs, vendors and academia - is vital. Only through interoperability can the full potential of disaggregation be realised. With a strategic focus on Mastering the ‘Route to Disaggregation’, #NGMN is at the forefront of developing disaggregated, #virtualised, and #cloudnative solutions. These innovations empower the industry to meet evolving customer demands while simultaneously reducing operating costs. NGMN places a strong emphasis on the operating models needed to efficiently manage disaggregated networks, addressing critical factors such as processes, technology, tools, and skill requirements. 𝗗𝗼 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝟲𝗚? ‘There’s no doubt that the next generation of mobile communications is on the horizon, and it’s arriving sooner than we think’ was the key message from NGMN CEO Anita Döhler during the “Should 6G be part of telco investment plans?” panel at yesterday’s TelecomTV Great Telco Debate. Anita stressed the need for collaboration in the mobile industry, particularly in investment and analysis, to sufficiently address the challenges of 5G while preparing for what the next generation of mobile networks and 6G will truly require. NGMN is already paving the way by identifying essential use cases for 6G and providing guidance for a smooth transition. Anita shared key guidance from the #MNO 6G Position Statement emphasizing the key factors driving 6G innovation – greater user value, improved operational efficiency, and support for societal goals. She also touched on NGMN’s latest publication for the transition to 6G, ‘The Radio Performance Assessment Framework’, released earlier this week, which provides a baseline for the mobile industry to ensure that new #RAN technology used in #6G networks and beyond surpasses the capabilities of #5G.
