Lena Marie Emrich BRACE, BRACE 15.11.2024 – 10.01. 2025 OFFICE IMPART 'A lifetime’s worth of silver dust settles on the endless um’s and ah’s of Lena Marie Emrich’s exhibition BRACE BRACE, filling her images and sculptures with all the infinitesimal speculative dreaming found in departure. Her proneness to detachment is an enigmatic discovery of life’s limbos, unknown destinations, a love of uncertainty, and interstitial community stirrings that posture viewer-as-traveller. Travellers examine the environment and social conditions more closely than their usual inhabitants, who barely winch or flap at the particular whistles of their mise-en-scène, tragic or otherwise. Aching with last-minute curiosity, she transforms into a pilgrim herself, with long tears on overnight trains, an outlaw, a nomad, fleeing, exiled in soft cruelty, slightly bent on orange sunsets and the poetic clicks of foreign tongues. Tomorrow opens Paris Photo Fair where we will present a new work series by #JonasLund 'Compressed Futures'. The series presents morphed human figures caught in surreal, abstracted scenarios. The stilled scenes, accompanied by subtitles hinting at larger narratives, depict speculative glimpses into a world transformed. Lund freezes singular moments that seem to encapsulate entire movies - capturing the cusp of massive technological and societal changes on the horizon. Characters confront their entanglement with technology and culture, from obsessive media consumption to the merging of human and machine intelligences. The distorted yet familiar figures raise questions about identity, agency, and what it means to be human in an era of accelerating technological disruption. Super excited to present award winning poet and artist Ana María Caballero this week at Paris Photo Fair with her work series 'Being Borges' 'Being Borges', presented by OFFICE IMPART in collaboration with Verse, proposes a new form of literary translation, begging the question: What’s at stake when language becomes literal via the visual? In this ongoing series of imaginary beings, Ana María Caballero takes Jorge Luis Borges and Margarita Guerrero’s The Book of 'Imaginary Beings' (a vast compendium of humanity’s imagined creatures) and its 1970 English translation by Norman Thomas di Giovanni as points of departure from which to explore how AI interprets Spanish versus English text, unmasking biases ingrained in large data sets.
