Über 700 Aussteller und 8.000 internationale Besucher machten die Messe zu einem zentralen Treffpunkt, um die neuesten Technologien und Trends zu präsentieren und zu diskutieren. Yesterday we had the pleasure of welcoming Steffen Müller, Dr. Dirk Engelbart, James Champion and Cristian Bank to OHB SE and showing them the MTG Sounder in one of our clean rooms. MTG is one of the most complex and innovative geostationary meteorological satellite systems ever built. The measurements it provides will help services, save lives and support livelihoods.

OHB Digital Connect to conduct study for #InSPoc-3! AI for autonomous #space tugs? We are on it. ✅ OHB Digital Connect and its partners OHB Hellas and Deutsches Forschungszentrum für Künstliche Intelligenz (DFKI) have been selected by European Space Agency - ESA to develop ideas for a networked fleet of autonomously operating in-space transportation vehicles. The study is part of ESA's In-Space Proof-of-Concepts (InSPoC) initiative, which aims to take the orbital economy to the next level by enabling technological developments in the following areas: 💏 In-orbit rendezvous and docking (InSPoC-1) ⛽ In-orbit refilling and propellant management (InSPoC-2) 🧠 On-board and shared intelligence (InSPoC-3) 🏗️ Containerisation and cargo transfer (InSPoC-4) The key technologies we will be working on are: 🔧 On-board autonomy and reconfigurability 🦺 On-board safety and longevity 🐝 Shared intelligence for advanced cooperation As lead of the OHB SE Competence Hub for #AI, we will use a software-centric approach to explore the benefits of implementing AI into on-board computers and using it for spacecraft operation and fleet management. In the long run, this will enable operators of a single spacecraft to become administrators of an intelligent fleet. #EnablingTheFuture

Raumfahrt „Made in Germany“ - Deutschlands Zukunft im All Gestern konnten sich politische Entscheider wie Friedrich Merz, Markus Blume, Nina Warken, Florian Hahn, Björn Simon, Michael Kießling und Reinhard Brandl während des Raumfahrttags der CDU/CSU-Bundestagsfraktion in München einen Eindruck davon machen, was die Raumfahrtindustrie in Deutschland leistet - von Satelliten bis zu Launchern. What an incredible successful International Astronautical Congress (IAC) 2024 in Milan it has been! 🙌🏻 🌎European Space Agency - ESA has awarded a contract valued over €280 million to us to build two #Harmony Earth Explorer satellites which will collect data to better understand our system Earth and climate change. ☄️ European Space Agency - ESA and OHB Italia S.p.A. signed a contract for consolidation and early implementation phase of #RAMSES. Following the successful #HERAmission, RAMSES will monitor and accompany the asteroid Apophis during its really close flyby of Earth on April 29th 2029 providing critical data for the protection of our Planet from future impacts. 🛰️ OHB Sweden and N3O (Portugal‘s first satellite integrator) signed partnership for two Atlantic Constellation VHR satellites which will support decision makers on relevant matters such as security, environment or emergency. OHB Italia S.p.A. AT THE FOREFRONT OF THE #RAMSES MISSION: THE NEW FRONTIER OF PLANETARY DEFENCE   Today, in the frame of IAC Milan 2024, OHB Italia S.p.A. and the European Space Agency - ESA have signed the contract for the consolidation and early implementation phase of RAMSES (Rapid Apophis Mission for Space Safety). This revolutionary space safety program, following the HERA mission, will monitor and accompany asteroid 99942 #Apophis during its close flyby of Earth on April 13, 2029, providing critical data for the protection of our Planet from potential future impacts.   OHB Italia, as Prime Contractor, is leading a core team including #OHBSystem and #GMV. The target is to develop an innovative probe to conduct detailed scientific analyses on the changes the asteroid undergoes due to Earth’s #gravitationalinfluence. Apophis, a celestial body approximately 375 meters in diameter, will pass just 32,000 km from Earth's surface, making it visible to the naked eye for millions of people across Europe, Africa, and Asia.   RAMSES will be equipped with an advanced suite of scientific instruments, including two #CubeSats that will be deployed to collect close-up data on Apophis. Thanks to the technical and engineering expertise of OHB Italia S.p.A. , these instruments will be integrated into the RAMSES probe to monitor the real-time transformations of the asteroid during the flyby, providing a comprehensive “before and after” perspective and contributing to the scientific understanding of #asteroidsdynamics.   “The RAMSES mission represents a crucial step forward for #spacesafety,” stated Roberto Aceti, CEO of OHB Italia. “Until now, to study asteroids we had to travel into deep space. Now, for the first time, we can observe one up close as it approaches Earth and witnesses its reactions to external gravitational forces. We are proud to lead the #industrialeffort for this vital mission that not only expands our knowledge of asteroids but also brings us closer to concrete solutions to address potential threats to our Planet. This project reflects the technical excellence of OHB Italia S.p.A. and our commitment to planetary defense.”   The RAMSES mission will also collaborate with the OSIRIS-APEX mission of #NASA, which was redirected towards Apophis to provide further scientific insights: the combined data from RAMSES and OSIRIS-APEX will deliver valuable information on Apophis’s internal cohesion, density, and composition, crucial aspects for studying and designing strategies to deflect any future potentially #hazardousobjects. RAMSES further demonstrates OHB Italia’s ability to run complex and #criticalprograms with challenging technical requirements and within extremely tight deadlines. It strengthens the role of OHB Italia and Europe as leaders in protecting Earth from natural hazards from space, contributing to a global and effective response to potential dangers due to asteroids and ensuring a safer #future for generations to come.

We are smiling because this is great news: Today at #IAC2024 ESA has signed a contract valued at over €280 million to OHB SE to build our two Harmony satellites. As subcontractors, Thales Alenia Space in Italy is responsible for the synthetic aperture radar and ABB in Canada is responsible for the thermal-infrared imager. A mission in tandem with Copernicus Sentinel-1: The mission comprises two identical satellites, each of which carry a receive-only synthetic aperture radar and a multiview thermal-infrared instrument. They will orbit Earth in convoy with a Copernicus Sentinel-1 satellite to yield new information that will answer important questions on Earth system processes. Harmony has to be built within the next five years in order for the satellites to meet their rendezvous with a Copernicus Sentinel-1 satellite; I have full trust in our industry partners to help us meet this deadline for such an important Earth Explorer mission. What are the applications? This unique satellite mission concept is now set to provide a wealth of new information about our oceans, ice, earthquakes and volcanoes – which will make significant contributions to climate research and risk monitoring. https://lnkd.in/dZ_yzMJt

Farewell, Earth!🌍 Last week, after we successfully launched our Hera mission, its instruments were switched on for the first time and the asteroid deck was pointed back towards our planet.
