We are happy to share the successful installation and operational deployment of Rotor Sails on the Chinook Oldendorff. Through a joint agreement first announced in December 2023, our vessel transports Elk Valley Resources steelmaking coal from the Port of Vancouver to customers across the Pacific Ocean. Equipped with Norsepower Rotor Sails™, the Chinook Oldendorff harnesses wind energy to generate additional thrust, expecting to reduce fuel consumption on transpacific routes by about 10-15%. At Oldendorff Carriers, we are dedicated to fostering continuous learning and career advancement. Recently, we supported our Director of Operations in Singapore, Thomas Antony, in completing the Maritime Leadership Programme by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore and SMU-ExD Executive Development. The 10-day programme, spread over 3 months, included 4 modules, with one held overseas in Copenhagen. It offered valuable insights into emerging industry challenges and opportunities for growth and networking within the maritime sector. We look forward to seeing the positive impact of these experiences on our operations and leadership.
We are proud to share that one of our Masters, Captain Reda Elnadoury, was awarded the Seafarer Award by The Mission to Seafarers in Singapore last week. Our crew plays a vital role in advancing diversity and inclusion on board, and Captain Elnadoury’s dedication to the “Empowering Diversity” initiative and commitment to supporting our cadet program made this recognition well-deserved. A sincere thank you to The Mission to Seafarers for organizing such a meaningful event, recognizing seafarers from around the world. We truly appreciate the support they provide to the women and men on board who keep our operations running smoothly.
