🌿 Wildlife watch: a glimpse into the secret life of Glasin project biotopes! 🕵🏾🦌 After setting up a camera trap on the Glasin project site in mid-October, green account presents us with the first local animals whose images have been captured. Here are the first shots of our wild neighbors!🦊🦔🐦🐾 Through efforts like rewetting and forest protection, Green Account is creating safe havens for native flora and fauna. The cameras play a key role in monitoring how well these restoration measures are working. The trapcam helps track which species return, how their populations grow, and the broader impact of Green Account’s actions on the biodiversity and health of these areas.📸✨ From mammals and birds to amphibians and insects, the “guests” are stepping into the frame and showing us how they’re settling into their renewed home. With this data, the teams can fine-tune their strategies to ensure these vital biotopes flourish for generations to come. Every snapshot is a step closer to understanding and supporting nature’s recovery. 🌱💚 Do you recognize any of the animals in the pictures? 🌱 New step for eMission-X gGmbH's rewilding project in Wusseken 🌱 After building the fence at the beginning of October, eMission-X started planting its first trees on the Wussuken plot. Corylus avellana Hazel, Prunus padus Weeping cherry, Mespilus germanica Medlar and Quercus robur English oak, are just a few of the ten or so varieties that have been selected and introduced. In total, 102 trees were planted at the beginning of November! 🌳🌿🌲 Hybrid poplars, specially designed for drier areas, will be joining them in March 2025. 💚 This is just another step on the long but rewarding journey of rewilding to make nature thrive again! Don't hesitate to contact the project team if you live nearby Wusseken and would like to lend a hand to the eMission-X team. This project is supported by GLS Bank. #rewilding #reforestation #biodiversity

🌱 Grass is so much more than just ground cover. It stabilizes soil, retains water, supports biodiversity, and even helps combat desertification. In degraded ecosystems, the return of grass is often the first sign of recovery 🌍💚. This picture, taken in Senegal’s Sahelian zone, highlights the transformative impact of restoration. On one side, restored land thrives with healthy grass, while the overgrazed area nearby struggles as bare soil takes over. The restored site on the left, located in Ferlo, is part of a larger project under the Great Green Wall initiative led by WeForest and the local community. Using techniques like assisted natural regeneration and enrichment planting, the project is regreening over 900 hectares of land. Grass and tree roots play a crucial role in preventing floods by slowing down water runoff and improving soil absorption. 💧 Grass also stabilizes the land, provides fodder for livestock, and creates healthier ecosystems. This work is crucial for restoring habitats for species like the scimitar-horned oryx 🦌 and red-necked ostrich 🐦, while supporting local communities.
