📢 PELOPaper Alert: a study published in "Cellular and Molecular Gastroenterology and Hepatology" shows how the complex role of liver sinusoidal endothelial cells (LSECs) in cirrhosis is utilizing single-cell transcriptomics to map their functions and vulnerabilities. Key Findings: ✔ 6 Distinct LSEC Clusters Identified: Three of these were mapped to specific liver zones. ✔ Zone-Specific Changes in Cirrhosis: Zone 3, the most injury-prone area, showed significant transcriptomic alterations. ✔ Capillarization and Dysfunction: Upregulation of capillarization genes and reduced endocytic receptor expression contributed to LSEC dysfunction in cirrhosis. Products Used from PELOBiotech: - Primary Human LSECs (PB-CH-153-5511) - Cellovations™ Microvascular Endothelial Cell Growth Medium Kit (PB-MH- 100-4099) - Speed Coating Solution (PB-LU-000-0002-00) These products ensured optimal cell growth, differentiation, and experimental reproducibility, enabling precise single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) analysis of liver endothelial cells. Shaping the Future of Liver Research: By revealing the spatial and functional heterogeneity of LSECs, this study offers insights that could inform therapeutic strategies to prevent or reverse liver fibrosis. 👏 Congratulations to Yasuko Iwakiri and her team at Yale University for this significant contribution to liver disease research! PELOBiotech is honored to support innovative science that transforms our understanding of liver health. 📄 Read more here https://lnkd.in/exbVAuzd.. and the full study here: https://lnkd.in/d7N3ENEk #LiverResearch #Cirrhosis #SingleCellTranscriptomics #PELOBiotech #BiomedicalScience

I just got reminded myself about my academic dreams of working and how these dream labs could become true. Going to the US, studying at Ivy League universities.... Kevin Abraham already did this ... so learn: • How to contact potential thesis labs. • How to get funding and a visa for the same. • How the US differs from Germany in terms of funding, environment, etc.
Hey students: do you ever daydream of packing your bench and just go? Then why don't you! Here is how: " A Master Student's Guide to Research at Stanford " a webinar by Kevin Abraham, working student at PELOBiotech GmbH and master student at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München and Stanford University will share his journey of moving to the U.S. to pursue his master’s thesis in aging research at Stanford University. He will discuss the process of securing a position and funding, as well as his day-to-day experiences in the lab. From navigating cultural differences to engaging in cutting-edge research, he will highlight both the challenges and opportunities he faced and how to materialize your academic goals of working at your dream labs. Would you like to hear more about How to contact potential thesis labs? How to secure funding and visa for the same? How does the US differ from germany in terms of funding, environment, etc then sign up at: https://lnkd.in/ehccka3f

presented by Kevin Abraham, who is currently studying for a Master's at LMU and Stanford. Kevin will share his experience moving to the US to work on his Master's thesis in aging research at Stanford University. He'll be sharing his experience of getting a job and funding, as well as what it's like to work in the lab daily. From dealing with cultural differences to getting involved in the latest research, he'll talk about the challenges and opportunities he's faced and how you can make your academic dreams of working at your dream labs come true. You'll learn: • How to contact potential thesis labs. • How to get funding and a visa for the same. • How the US differs from Germany in terms of funding, environment, etc.

Today, we are excited to put the spotlight one of our own team members in KEEPING UP WITH KEVIN! Kevin Abraham, while being a working student at PELOBiotech, is also doing research at Stanford University in the laboratories of Tony Wyss-Coray and Carolyn Bertozzi under Dr. Michael Schoof. Dr. Wyss-Coray's lab focuses on understanding brain aging and neurodegeneration, with groundbreaking discoveries on how circulatory factors can influence brain structure and function. Dr. Bertozzi, awarded the 2022 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, pioneered bioorthogonal chemistry, enabling the study of biomolecules in living systems without cellular disruption. Kevin's work at Stanford involves exploring innovative approaches to understanding the aging process, potentially paving the way for interventions in age-related diseases. We're proud of the contributions both at PELOBiotech and in these prestigious labs, advancing the field of geroscience. We look forward to the exciting discoveries that will emerge from this important research! By the way, if you are interested to hear more about how Kevin managed to become a master student in the US, join us on Jan. 15th at 5pm for his upcoming webinar! https://lnkd.in/ehccka3f #AgingResearch #Biotechnology #CellBiology #Glycobiology #IndustryAcademiaCollaboration #Stanford #Innovation #Geroscience
