  • Did you know that boosting omega-3 levels can increase life expectancy by nearly five years? 🌟 That's the power of DHA and EPA, which are essential fatty acids vital to longevity and cellular health: ✅ DHA supports brain function and cell membrane integrity. ✅ EPA regulates inflammation, promoting better heart health and overall vitality. Research shows that these acids reduce the inflammation and oxidative stress that contribute to aging and chronic diseases (see links in the comments below). But there's more to the story: sustainability. 🌱 Traditional fish oil sources raise concerns about mercury contamination and environmental impact. That's why we're proud to introduce our Algae Oil Powder—a plant-based, eco-friendly alternative packed with 20% DHA and 10% EPA. 💡 Why Algae Oil Powder stands out: 🔹 Precision formulation for longevity and cellular health. 🔹 Versatile powder format for supplements, functional foods, and beverages. 🔹 Sustainably sourced from renewable algae, meeting consumer demand for eco-conscious products. "The Wild 13" - new insights into food toxicity On June 6, 2024, the German Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) published the first report from the HoA working group "Food Supplements." This report identifies 13 substances in food supplements that could pose potential health risks. The "Wild 13" include: - Black cohosh (Actaea racemosa): Possible liver-damaging effects. - Coumarin in plant-based preparations: Can be hepatotoxic in high doses and is considered carcinogenic in animal studies. - Curcumin in turmeric preparations: High doses may pose health risks, especially liver damage. - St. John’s Wort (Hypericum perforatum): Can interact with numerous medications. - Maca (Lepidium meyenii): High doses may cause hormonal imbalances. - Essential oils from Melaleuca species: Toxic in high doses or when misused, especially to the skin and nervous system. - Melatonin: Long-term use of high doses might impact hormonal balance. - Indian basil (Ocimum tenuiflorum): Excessive intake could have toxic effects on the liver and immune system. - Piperine: High doses may affect the digestive system and liver. - p-Synephrine in citrus preparations: Potential cardiovascular strain, increased risk of hypertension, and heart rhythm disturbances. - Tribulus terrestris: Potential liver damage with excessive consumption. - Tryptophan: High doses could lead to serotonin excess and neurological issues. - Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera): Concerns about its effects on the hormonal system and possible interactions with medications. For the trade sector, a harmonized EU regulation could simplify the distribution of food supplements, as uniform rules would apply across the EU, reducing bureaucracy. Companies could then offer their products seamlessly throughout Europe. The above statements require further research and studies to scientifically substantiate them. Therefore, not all statements can currently be accepted by conventional medicine. https://lnkd.in/dzYBeUSZ source: https://lnkd.in/dTRsDrDr

  • Field Horsetail: Science Meets Tradition to Support Bone Health 🌿 Equisetum Arvense, also known as field horsetail, has been a staple in European traditional medicine for centuries. Modern science is beginning to validate some of its benefits—particularly its potential to support bone health. 🔎 Can Equisetum Arvense really boost bone health? Field horsetail is full of compounds that support the skeletal system. Let's take a closer look at its phytochemistry: 🔹 High Silica Content: Equisetum Arvense is one of the richest natural sources of silica, vital in forming and maintaining bone tissue. 🔹 Antioxidant Powerhouse: Flavonoids like quercetin and kaempferol tackle free radicals, preventing damage to healthy bone cells. 🔹 Rich in Minerals: The minerals in horsetail—such as potassium and manganese—contribute significantly to maintaining good bone health. 🔬 What does the science say? One animal study (https://lnkd.in/deRmUsVw) explored the effects of Equisetum Arvense extract on bone mineral density. The findings suggest that the extract may improve bone density, especially in cases of osteoporosis. While this is an exciting discovery, it's important to note that further human studies are needed to fully understand its efficacy in supporting skeletal health. Our Equisetum Arvense Powder Extract offers a concentrated dose of silica and other bioactive compounds, making it a promising addition to bone health supplements and nutraceutical formulations. 📄 Download the datasheet here: https://lnkd.in/dijagvfA #EquisetumArvense #Silica #Antioxidant #BoneHealth #PlantExtracts #HealthAndWellness

Freeze-Drying vs. Spray-Drying: Which Process is Best? 🤔 When preserving plant-based ingredients, freeze-drying and spray-drying are two of the most commonly used methods. But which one is best for your product formulations? Let's explore their key differences and benefits. Freeze-Drying: Maximum Nutrient Retention ❄️ Freeze-drying (lyophilization) involves freezing the ingredients and removing water via sublimation. This method is ideal for preserving temperature-sensitive compounds like vitamins and polyphenols. 🔹 Nutrient Integrity Studies show that freeze-drying maintains the integrity of sensitive bioactive compounds, retaining their potency. For example, it preserves antioxidants better than spray-drying. 🔹 Texture and Flavor Retention Freeze-drying also maintains ingredients' natural texture, flavor, and color. That makes it an excellent choice for products like premium nutraceuticals and functional foods. 🔹 Ideal for Sensitive Ingredients Freeze-drying is perfect for formulations that require high potency and minimal degradation. So it's a top choice for ingredients like probiotics, mushrooms, and herbal extracts. Dive into the research here: https://lnkd.in/dt-YXnZX https://lnkd.in/dNSFhwrq https://lnkd.in/dhK93eCc Spray-Drying: Speed and Scalability 💨 Spray-drying involves spraying liquid ingredients into a hot chamber, where the water evaporates quickly to produce a fine powder. This method is better for bulk production, where speed and cost efficiency are crucial. 🔹 Cost-Effective for Large Batches Spray-drying is faster and more scalable, making it ideal for high-volume production. It's often used for protein powders, instant beverages, and flavor enhancers. 🔹 Versatile Applications Spray-drying is versatile, handling both liquid and paste forms of ingredients. It also yields fine powders that are easy to incorporate into formulations. 📄 Explore a selection of our freeze-dried ingredients here: https://lnkd.in/dqhGz8mZ #FreezeDrying #SprayDrying #ManufacturingTechniques #PlantExtracts #HealthAndWellness #Plants2Market
