    𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 A wonderful weekend is coming to an end.  The positive energy felt great as we met about half of our consultant team on Saturday. It was amazing to see how they instantly connected with each other. Meeting and working with Chris Brow on Sunday was also a unique experience. He always delivers, adapts immediately and does it all with ease. On top of that, Chris is a super pleasant and fun guy to be around. I look forward to the next opportunity to work or just hang out with him. Then, the outstanding crew of Spreadfilms. Andreas Ramelsberger and his team are not just filmmakers. They are visual storytellers, marketing & communications experts, change consultants and more. I have rarely seen someone as focused, high functioning, efficient and still approachable for two long days as Andi. Last but not least, Niklas. A big thank you to you, too. 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒑 2: Picture the youngest person you know that you deeply care about. 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒑 3: Ask yourself, how was the world like, when the oldest person you chose was the age of the youngest person you chose? What challenges did s/he had to confront? 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒑 4: In comparison to that, which challenges must this youngest person you chose face today? What does society require her/him to be(come)? 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒑 5: Fast forward to when the young person will be as old as the old person you chose. What will the world look like? It’s about stepping beyond your personal story and aligning yourself with the larger movements of society. What future is calling to you? What role do you play in shaping the world of tomorrow?     Following a recent keynote by Thomas Fritz titled "𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬, 𝐈’𝐥𝐥 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞" an engaging discussion emerged. It led us to reflect on a common mistake in rethinking performance management systems: the rush to create new solutions after identifying gaps in the current system. This often results in new, unforeseen dysfunctions shortly after implementation. Why? Because the underlying dynamics of the system remain not understood. Even “Performance Management 2.0” systems might rather be a half-step than a revolution, according to Antoinette Weibel: ”𝐼𝑛 2016, 𝑎 𝑠𝑜𝑟𝑡 𝑜𝑓 “𝑃𝑒𝑟𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑚𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑒 𝑀𝑎𝑛𝑎𝑔𝑒𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑅𝑒𝑣𝑜𝑙𝑢𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛” 𝑔𝑎𝑟𝑛𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑑 𝑎𝑡𝑡𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑖𝑡𝑠 𝑚𝑜𝑣𝑒 𝑎𝑤𝑎𝑦 𝑓𝑟𝑜𝑚 𝑟𝑖𝑔𝑖𝑑 𝑎𝑛𝑛𝑢𝑎𝑙 𝑟𝑒𝑣𝑖𝑒𝑤𝑠 𝑡𝑜𝑤𝑎𝑟𝑑 𝑚𝑜𝑟𝑒 𝑎𝑔𝑖𝑙𝑒, 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑢𝑜𝑢𝑠 𝑓𝑒𝑒𝑑𝑏𝑎𝑐𝑘 𝑠𝑦𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑚𝑠. Before rethinking performance incentives, for example, we seek to first facilitate a true understanding of human motivation and uncover the organization’s beliefs about how people function. What does that concretely mean for in terms of things would be that we might want to look at first before re-designing the system?
