Incredibly relieved to finally announce our new publication in Immunity! https://lnkd.in/e3v62GNP We uncover that IL-17RA fulfills a dual tumor suppressor function in advanced colorectal cancer (CRC), despite accelerating tumor growth at early stages! Our study challenges two important concepts in cancer: 👉 Stage-dependent duality of inflammation: we demonstrate that IL-17RA-mediated pathways can switch from promoting to restraining CRC progression as the disease advances, contrary to the view that inflammatory signaling may be uniformly pro-tumorigenic. 👉Fungi as allies, not foes: Fungi in the tumor microenvironment elicit protective antitumor immunity, in striking contrast to the prevailing belief that the mycobiome primarily fuels tumor growth. Our findings highlight the potential for future combination therapies for advanced CRC that build on exploiting IL-17RA-mediated signaling.
