22 golden and 83 silver doctoral graduation anniversaries were celebrated at RWTH 🎓😀
Dr. Ina Mitra's experience of her doctorate 25 years ago was quite sobering. The moment she received her certificate was, at the very least. Because it came in the post. 25 years later, she remembers this moment very well and she is all the more pleased that she can now celebrate her doctorate after all: with 104 other doctoral jubilarians who received their doctorate certificate 25 or 50 years ago. 👍
Ina Mitra (1st picture) is now a silver jubilarian and says proudly today: "When I received my doctoral certificate in the post, I was already in the middle of my career, had already moved away from Aachen and no longer had any connection to RWTH. That's why I think it's particularly great that there is now a Doctoral Anniversary Celebration." 😍
Mitra and all the other guests were welcomed by the Rector of RWTH, Professor Ulrich Rüdiger, who hosted the evening's lively program. With an entertaining presentation about RWTH, Rector Ulrich Rüdiger – who was himself among the jubilarians last year – brought the former doctoral students back to RWTH for a few moments and took them back to the time of their studies and doctorates.
The Rector also talked about the current situation and showed the guests how RWTH has developed over the last few decades. Finally, he presented the outlook for the future. "I found the rector's presentation particularly interesting. It is remarkable to see how RWTH has developed and what it offers its students," comments Dr. Hanns-Joachim Neef, who is celebrating his golden jubilee. For him, the celebration became a small family party, so to speak: Because 25 years after him, his daughter also completed her doctorate at RWTH and so Neef and his daughter, Dr. Karola Klutmann (2nd picture), celebrated a golden-silver double anniversary. 👨👧🙌
Since 2004, doctoral candidates who received their doctoral diploma 25 and 50 years prior have been invited to RWTH and have been honored each year. Memories of studying, researching and writing up doctoral theses, seeing fellow students and doctoral supervisors again as well as getting to know new faces and seeing the developments at the University – the event left a strong and lasting impression on the guests. You could really see the pride in their eyes and faces. ❤️
