In an evolving regulatory landscape, many manufacturers are considering a conversion from solvent cleaning to aqueous cleaning because of its presumably “greener” profile than solvents. But is aqueous cleaning truly better, greener and more sustainable? This article published in Products Finishing debunks several misconceptions about solvent cleaning, particularly when it comes to resource efficiency compared to aqueous cleaning. Often, industrial users tend to focus on the cleaning agent, overlooking the importance of the technology and processes within which a cleaning medium is deployed. This oversight has inadvertently contributed to the negative perception of solvents in some circles. Ultimately, both aqueous and solvent cleaning can be effective, depending on the specific context. By understanding the differences and working mechanism of these two methods, users can make more informed decisions about what is best suited for their needs. #solventcleaning #sustainability #industrialcleaning #precisioncleaning Read the article: https://shorturl.at/duokx

Perchloroethylene (PERC) has proven to deliver high process stability and cost-effective cleaning, as demonstrated by VIA Oberflächentechnik GmbH. A specialist in contract cleaning, VIA Oberflächentechnik processes up to 500 tonnes of workpieces daily, all of which are contaminated with a wide variety of forming oils. For 60% of these parts, degreasing with PERC is essential before proceeding to fine cleaning, further processing, or direct delivery to customers. To meet these rigorous demands, VIA Oberflächentechnik utilizes a fleet of five closed cleaning machines running on DOWPER™* N, a highly stabilized perchloroethylene. The exceptional distillation capabilities of DOWPER™* N enable efficient recycling with minimal solvent residues in the waste stream, resulting in low refill volumes. In fact, VIA Oberflächentechnik has not needed a single bath change for DOWPER™* N in over 20 years. Another advantage of perchloroethylene is its superb compatibility with all metalworking oils (e.g. critical additives, evaporation oils, and chlorine-containing forming oils) with very few exceptions. Its excellent penetration properties also make it a superior cleaning agent for intricate components like tiny tubes and deep-drawn parts. Discover why perchloroethylene is the "workhorse" at VIA Oberflächentechnik by exploring the case study below! #IndustrialCleaning #Perchloroethylene #Manufacturing #Solvent

CMP Products, a leading manufacturer of cable glands and cable cleats supplying into multiple industries including transport, robotics and energy conveyance, has replaced their aqueous cleaning process with solvent cleaning. Previously, it was a challenge for them to maintain consistent cleaning results. The maintenance efforts of the aqueous cleaning bath and continuous addition of cleaning agent posed further operational and financial challenges. Now, with their new closed vacuum cleaning machine running on the modified alcohol solvent DOWCLENE™* 1601, used solvent can be continuously repurified and reused thanks to the machine’s built-in distillation unit. The efficient solvent recovery not only extends solvent lifespan, but also minimizes solvent residues in waste stream and reduces total cleaning costs. The much easier process monitoring has also helped free up their operators’ time by up to 10 hours per week. Check out their story here! #partscleaning #sustainability #solventcleaning #manufacturing
