Info
Simutence is your highly specialized and independent partner for the virtual design of manufacturing processes and components with plastics, fiber-reinforced composites, and hybrids. Whether OEM, component manufacturer, process equipment provider, material supplier or engineering service provider – we are here to make your product and manufacturing process development cycles most efficient using advanced engineering and simulation methods. Our approach for the efficient product and manufacturing process development is the seamless and close connection of product design, manufacturing validation, and engineering through our Virtual Process Chain. Based on this, virtual manufacturing validation is enabled, which can significantly reduce real-world efforts on demonstrator manufacturing and manufacturing piloting. We use our self-developed simulation approaches for engineering services, where state-of-the-art approaches are not sufficient. These simulation approaches are based on add-ons for established commercial software and are successively made available to our customers for the in-house application. Besides this, we offer training and consulting for the virtual product and process development. Please feel free to contact us to discuss your requirements – the first step to a successful collaboration. We are looking forward to your challenges!

The Automotive Composites Conference & Exhibition (ACCE) hosted in partnership with the SPE Composites division and the SPE Automotive Div. focuses on composites' key role in developing electric vehicles and sustainability initiatives worldwide. Our Co-Founder and Managing Director Dr. Martin Hohberg will participate and present how to use our newly hosted web application #SimuTherm to make composite molding optimization using simulation more efficient and accurate. Besides this, Simutence will also be represented at the booth of the Fraunhofer Innovation Platform at Western University. Moreover, he’ll provide a joint presentation with Louis Kaptur from FIP on the next-generation service hole cover in tape laminate sandwich design. Feel free to reach out to Martin Hohberg if you’d like to schedule an on-site meeting! #speacce #composites #digitaltransformation #simulation #automotive #automotivemaufacutring #manufacturing #SimuTherm

We are more than happy to introduce our new colleague, M.Sc. Maximilian Brodt! Maximilian started his career in 2012 through an apprenticeship as a machinist. After 5 years in this field, he decided to pursue further studies in mechanical engineering. He graduated in 2023 with a master’s degree in computational engineering from Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB). During his studies, he was part of the Formula Student team. Moreover, he did an internship in the industry with a focus on HyperWorks automatization and contact modeling in LS-Dyna. Subsequently, he wrote his master’s thesis, also in the industry, with a focus on material modeling. Max extends our team and will support us in our projects on the virtual design of compression molding simulation with SMC and LFT. Welcome to the team Max – we are very happy to have you with us!

From June 19-20, the PIAE - Plastics in Automotive Engineering known as the most important leading congress for plastics in the automotive industry takes place in Mannheim, Germany. Our co-founder Dominik Dörr will provide a presentation on “Virtual Validation and Optimization as Enabler for the 3D Skeleton Winding (3DSW) Technology for Innovative Lightweight Structures”. The presentation will outline a digital design approach for 3DSW structures upon the newly developed 3DSW rear trailing arm for a Hyundai Motor Company (현대자동차) Santa Fe. The demonstrator part was developed in a collaboration project between Fraunhofer ICT, Fritz Automation GmbH, and Simutence GmbH. The result of the project is an industrial-scale production cell for the 3DSW technology. Moreover, a holistic virtual design approach is defined and applied to the rear-trailing arm. The result is an integral demonstrator part, which outperforms the differential metallic design with nine parts and reduces the component mass by 38 %. When: June 20 – 10:30 Where: Mozartsaal (Leichtbau Session) We are looking forward to exciting discussions! #digitaltransformation #simulation #automotive #automotivemanufacturing #manufacturing #composites #researchanddevelopment #thermoplastics #thermoplastic #digitaltwin

Is C-SMC ready for the commercial aviation industry? We support their assertion through more robust simulation! A C-SMC wing riblet is the demonstrator part of a collaboration project between @Engenuity Ltd, @WMG, @University of Warwick, @Creative Composites, @Spirit AeroSystems, and @Simutence. The goal is to combine Simutence’s approaches for SMC molding simulation with FiRMA flow, Engenuity’s approach for probabilistic structural simulation with SMC. This enables a more robust prediction of the real part's performance especially when it comes to failures. Stop by the HRC’s booth F55 in hall 6 to see the C-SMC wing riblet and at our booth M82.3 in hall 6 to learn more about the virtual design process. #digitaltransformation #simulation #manufacturing #composites #researchanddevelopment #smc #thermoset #aerospace #aerospaceengineering #aerospaceindustry #digitaltwin
