The young network for social commitment in central and eastern Europe.
Info
socioMovens is a network of young people in Central and Eastern Europe who are committed to social justice in their respective contexts. In social-ethical project weeks, youths and young adults have the opportunity to get involved with people on the margins of society, guided by the Christian image of the human being. Since 2013, a lively European network has developed from the more than fifty youth project weeks that have been carried out aiming to contribute to its motto "Giving Europe a Soul". The growing local communities of young people are an important foundation for the further development of the network. The international foundation "socioMovens. Giving Europe a Soul" acts as an umbrella for the partnerships and local organisations in the participating countries. It closely collaborates with the social institute "Kommende Dortmund" in Germany.

#socioMovens contributing to safer international youth projects 🙌 Since last year, a team from the enlarged socioMovens #network has been working on a #methods #toolbox on the path to safer international youth work. To this end, those responsible for youth work in five socioMovens partner countries came together in Bonn to test the methods developed. #Safeguarding refers to the holistic protection of the #health, #wellbeing and rights of minors in particular and primarily aims to protect people from harm. There are various forms of harm, e.g. unfair treatment, violence, sexual abuse or deprivation of liberty. 💭 From theory to practice It is important to increase safety with institutional #safeguardingpolicies, which often include #training on the topics so that everyone who works with vulnerable people understands what they can do and what they need to look out for. Nevertheless, in discussions with our partners, we have repeatedly come up against the question: And what does this mean in #practice – especially in our international work with its different requirements from country to country? The result of our joint work is a #collection of 16 methods for the #preparation, #implementation and #evaluation of international youth work in a church context and beyond. 🤝 Tested by practitioners Finally, during the Safeguarding workshop these methods could be tested in practice. At the event, risk analyses were carried out, critical situations were simulated and various experiences of protection from the countries of origin were shared. "I had already considered many of these aspects individually beforehand, but it's important to take a structured look at the topic with everyone in the management team," said one participant from Poland. "Especially with regard to the prevention of abuse, this is now also a big topic here in Slovakia – it's good to talk about it," said a multiplier from Ruzomberok. 📚 Whoever from the network is interested in the details can connect for a copy of the toolbox and access to further training. The official launch of the toolbox will happen in September! #givingeuropeasoul

😎 Summer time is #projectweek time in the #socioMovens-network. In the past weeks we had projects running in #Romania, #Poland, #Slovakia and #Croatia. 🔙 For the first time in five years, socioMovens was back with a project to northern Slovakia: The aim of the local project week was to familiarise young people with the living conditions of elderly, often lonely people who are cared for in local care facilities and to establish lasting contact with them. 👵 👴 🧓 One of the participants described her encounters as both frightening and encouraging: "I would never have thought that the elderly people were in such a difficult situation. At first, I didn't know how to react. But it's important that there are encounters like this. It would be difficult for me to do something like this alone, but when I'm out and about with others, we can make a difference." 🤲 The joint perspective is to establish a group of young people who regularly visit and spend time with elderly and otherwise socially excluded people. In order to promote this goal in the long term in accordance with our motto #givingeuropeasoul, project weeks are to be organised again in the coming years. See you soon in Ružomberok!

🕊 A blessed #Pentecost! 🔥 In our #socioMovens network "#spirit" takes a major importance. Today we are happy to share an impression from the currently running #projectweek in #Romania. 🤲 One day of the current project, the participants met up with youth from #Ukraine. Getting to know their realities and connecting in various activities supported the community building a lot. It remains important to listen to each other and to show concrete #solidarity and stay connected. All the best for the continuation of your work and the upcoming #encounters. 👏 Many thanks to all local #volunteers and the coordinator team around Dobai Attila, Andreea Dobai-Mergel and Rus Robert!

🔙 Looking back: Project week in Poznań supporting people with mental health and addiction challenges 💬 Project coordinator Grzegorz Zbiorczyk shares some insights on the most recent #projectweek with us: “we responded to a request from #alumni of previous #socioMovens projects and took on the challenge of organising an educational project on #mentalhealth. Mental health is currently a pressing issue for young people. I am aware that many parents and teachers want to support their children or students, but sometimes they lack the tools or the right resources. #Prevention is better than cure, but again, the system does not make things easier." 👋 The participants of the project week (students of three different schools) were welcomed from #youngleaders. Later a psychiatrist, a psychotherapist and an occupational therapist, who shared their experiences of working with people in mental health crises and conducted #workshops for the participants to equip them with relevant knowledge, tools and soft skills. 🤹♂️"Our initiative could not be called socioMovens if it were not about acting together in the concrete #socialreality in which we live. [...] We are also very grateful for the visit to the Green Centre, a community self-help centre for people in mental health crisis, and the collaboration with the participants of this wonderful initiative. Thanks to the mutual trust, we were able to conduct joint movement and integration workshops and make tea bags and clothes pegs." #givingeuropeasoul #socioMovens #sociomovens_poznan #projectweek #mentalhealth #prevention #poznan #socialwork

#NextGenResp 🎇 In cooperation with Sozialinstitut Kommende Dortmund, Caritas BSG Lipova, Pastoralni Centar Ludbreg und Fundacja Odzyskani we have been kicking-off an #Erasmus+ project for the qualification of #youngleaders. We are very keen to explore how "Giving Europe a Soul - #Responsibility for the Next Generation" can inspire us and the participants for our future European #youthwork. We will also explore how to grow in European exchange learning from each others experiences. ➡ Every now and then we will share some #projectupdates here! #socioMovens #givingeuropeasoul Disclaimer: Co-funded by the European Union. ⏩ With the slogan "Shaping the Future in a European Way", about dozen committed #youthworkers and #alumni of youth social project weeks from five countries came together for a three-day workshop in Paderborn already in mid-June 2023. 👁️🗨️ In intensive reports, they shared experiences from their current project realities. Together, the participants identified current challenges and developed a project concept for a joint #Erasmus+ application, which was eventually handed in in October. We are currently hoping to start into our #SmallScalePartnership training the future generations in April 2024. 👛 In addition, various experiences in local fundraising were exchanged. Last but not least, the participants of the workshop also took part in celebrating the ordination to the diaconate of Jakob Ohm, a former employee of Sozialinstitut Kommende Dortmund and board member of the foundation #socioMovens. #givingeuropeasoul.

👩🏫 Our #socioMovens network is promoting #youth #volunteering for the #commongood. In order to prepare the next generation of coordinators for this work, we organised a training course together with our partners in #Poland and Sozialinstitut Kommende Dortmund. 🙋♂️ 🙋♀️ In #Poznań the participants, all alumni of previous #projectweeks, had the opportunity for intensive exchange in lectures and workshops on group pedagogy, planning youth projects or prevention. Afterwards, individual possibilities were also explored on how the participants could continue to get involved. Marek, 20, sums up: "The training was a great opportunity to learn more about how to work in a group and also how to become a leader. I was able to intensively explore my ideas and the way I work with and in a group (as a leader/mentor and co-leader/co-organiser)." Already looking forward to the next steps and trainings planned for 2024! 👍 The training was generously supported by Evonik.
