J’aimerais vous dire qu’écrire un livre, c’est facile. Problème : je ne sais pas mentir ! Quand l’éditrice de Springer m’a proposé de sortir une seconde édition de « Sell Your Research: Public Speaking for Scientists », j’ai tout de suite dit « oui ». Après avoir passé plusieurs mois sur la première édition, je pensais qu’une réédition serait plus simple. Avec le recul, pas tant que ça ! La première édition avait mis la barre haut. Elle a touché un public large, et j’ai reçu des retours incroyables du monde entier. Alors, avec cette nouvelle édition, j’ai voulu donner plus. Mais par où commencer ? Relire, mettre à jour… Ça semble simple, jusqu’à ce qu’on se plonge dans chaque chapitre, chaque phrase, chaque mot. Et puis, les pratiques de communication ont évolué. Les conférences en visio ont explosé depuis 2020, et il fallait en parler. Le storytelling est devenu incontournable pour faire passer ses idées. Et il y avait aussi ce fameux « grand oral », si décisif pour financer des projets, que je voulais aborder car nous avions aidé de nombreux chercheurs à passer le leur avec succès. J’ai rajouté de nouveaux chapitres, peaufiné chaque conseil, chaque exemple. Écrire un livre, c’est long, même quand on croit que ce sera plus facile la deuxième fois. Il a fallu y consacrer un certain nombre de soirées et de week-ends. Et cela valait le coup ! Aujourd’hui, je suis fière de partager avec vous cette nouvelle édition, enrichie et actualisée, prête à accompagner tous les scientifiques qui veulent communiquer avec impact.
