After an incredible 31 years at Sto, Jan Nissen is taking his well-deserved retirement. 🥇 As Chief Technology Officer, he was responsible for Process Engineering, Innovation, Materials Management and Logistics, for eight years. His projects have significantly shaped Sto and led it into the future. Under his leadership, production facilities were expanded and made logistics fit for the future. When skateboarders test our high-quality floor coating in parking garages, our model expertly paints a facade or a family moves into their newly renovated city villa — all of these scenes show what drives us: the love of building.🛹🏠 The production was not without hitches, as the making-of film reveals. Skateboarders remained unscathed after falls, our model braved the cold and the child actors made the most of every break to have fun — and we are proud to say that everyone in their own way achieved something outstanding. Julia Klöckner visits our headquarter. To gain an impression of developments in the construction industry and the current challenges, the CDU federal treasurer Julia Klöckner visited us at our headquarters in Baden-Württemberg. In conversation with Sto CEO Rainer Huettenberger, his deputy Michael Keller and Head of Sales Germany Heiner Röhr, the CDU politician said: "Sto is a prime example of the German SME sector, which is an important pillar of our economy. The innovative strength and job security provided by such companies must not be lost. The CDU therefore sees an urgent need for action to support the German construction industry through sustainable and reliable policies and appropriate framework conditions." During a tour of the Sto product exhibition, the Sto board members presented product innovations and, in particular, the range of different insulation materials for facades. The Sto board members were very clear about the current subsidy measures of the German government. "Private households and investors urgently need planning security for the renovation and new construction of buildings, which unfortunately has not been given in the current legislative period. This uncertainty has meant that urgently needed new construction projects have not been realised or have even been halted, which has further contributed to the housing shortage in Germany," emphasised Deputy CEO Michael Keller. Felix Schreiner, Member of the German Bundestag, Sabine Hartmann-Müller, Member of the State Parliament of Baden-Württemberg, Christoph M. Stolz, Head of Public Affairs at Sto, and Anne Ruhrmann, Head of Global Public Relations at Sto, also took part in the visit. In their final conclusion, both the politicians and the company representatives agreed, that it is important for both sides to remain in constant dialogue in order to master the political and economic challenges together. Our vocational training was honoured⭐️🎓 The best trainers in Germany were nominated and we are among them🤩.   We received four out of five stars in the category "Southern Germany" for companies with more than 2,000 employees in the survey "Germany's Best Trainers" by the business magazine “Capital”. The survey, in which over 500 companies took part shows, that the biggest secret to success of the best trainers lies in adapting their training programmes to the needs of applicants and to social developments. Facade renovation: precise and customized Sto's Project Service was a big topic at our European trade fairs this year. As part of the European Green Deal, the energy-efficient refurbishment of existing buildings is becoming increasingly important. 🌍💚 The digitalization of existing buildings is a key aspect of this in order to be able to develop solid renovation concepts quickly and efficiently. This is exactly what we do as part of the Sto Project Service: we digitize buildings - with the highest level of dimensional accuracy. This gives you a reliable basis for planning. How does it work? 1. Digital as-built survey: scan of the existing facade with a mobile LiDAR scanner. The results of the on-site scan are merged into a point cloud, on the basis of which 2D facade views and 3D models are created. 📏 2. Area and quantity determination: all relevant components such as doors, windows, balconies, recesses etc. are defined step by step. This means that all relevant areas and quantities of the existing facade are calculated automatically.🏢🏠 3. Ground-breaking ceremony in Mexico. Sto Corp. has laid the foundation stone for a new production facility in Mexico. The plant is being built in north-east Mexico near the megacity of Monterrey and is scheduled for completion in June 2025. 🌎 An important ground-breaking ceremony for Sto, explain Rainer Huettenberger and Jose Berlingeri. The plant will provide around 25 new jobs. An industrial building with many Sto surfaces and coatings will be built on the 10,000 square metre site.
