🔎 Looking for an employer, where your work can have an impact on sustainability? We spoke with Tim Rother, Product Manager Carbon Footprint about his projects to learn more about #ESG job roles at SupplyOn:   Q1: What makes the current project you're working on particularly exciting or challenging? Tim: I am currently working on our new product called CBAM Manager. #CBAM stands for Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism and is the EU's tool to prevent carbon leakage and assign a fair price to the carbon emitted during the production of carbon-intensive goods entering the EU. The goal is to encourage cleaner industrial production in non-EU countries. With our CBAM Manager, we enable our customers to comply with the corresponding EU regulation by fostering collaboration with their suppliers, ensuring they have all the necessary data to fulfill the EU’s requirements. Due to strict time constraints, we were unable to follow the usual product development approach. Instead, we began development while still in the concept phase for some topics. This inevitably led to friction and several challenges along the way. However, through good communication and close collaboration — including with our first customer — we managed to overcome these obstacles and successfully launch the product on time. Q2: How does your project impact the bigger picture or contribute to the company’s vision? Tim: CBAM is a crucial piece in achieving the EU’s ambitious CO2 reduction targets under the EU Green Deal. As ESG-related topics are gaining more attention globally, we are committed to supporting our customers in reaching their sustainability goals. The CBAM Manager aligns perfectly with our overall company strategy. This product positions us as a trustworthy and innovative player in the ESG space within the supply chain, creating new opportunities to market other ESG solutions in our portfolio. Q3: What do you enjoy most about working on this project? Tim: Personally, I view #sustainability as part of everyone’s social responsibility, which makes working on a related product especially meaningful to me. The internal cross-department collaboration has been excellent, and I highly appreciate the time, effort, and thought invested in this project by everyone involved.
