It was the highlight of a day packed with valuable connections, new learnings and inspiring discussions. With over 340 submissions from across 70+countries, the Top 12 Health Techpreneurs of 2023 showcased their innovative solutions at the final pitch and award ceremony of the 16th Healthcare Innovation World Cup on November 11th, hosted at MEDICA. 🔍 You've voted - we deliver. Three weeks ago we asked you about what you are the most curious about when it comes to our technology. Here comes the first answer: Why does EasyAccess look as it looks. ❓ THE PROBLEM: Minimally invasive procedures suffer from a lack of guidance and objective support for accurate placement of interventional instruments. Multiple solutions have been developed, but all of them have the same drawbacks: specialised instruments, which change the clinical workflow and are costly, but also required the user to get used to them and are cumbersome to use. 💡 THE SOLUTION: We set out to do things differently right from the start. To allow users to keep their existing workflow, our sensing unit is designed to work with existing medical instruments. The sensing unit can be attached very easily to any instrument, independent from the instrument's manufacturer, allowing users to keep their familiar tools and workflow. The sensing unit is attached to the end of the instrument, which is outside the patient's body, which significantly reduces risk and, thus, development and certification efforts. By using vibroacoustics and off-the-shelf components, our device will be affordable for most clinical practices around the world. Acoustic feedback allows the user to focus on the field of work while listening to the feedback provided by EasyAccess. Moreover, studies have shown that audio feedback is one of the most intuitive means to provide information to humans. Our system will be ready to use in seconds and provide real-time guidance to the users aiming to support them in precise instrument placement. The concept of using acoustic emissions for enhancing minimally invasive procedures, introduced by SURAG Medical, is inspiring researchers worldwide. They are applying this exciting methodology in their domains and testing new areas of application. We are extremely happy to observe that now also the renowned Forschungsgruppe MITI of the Technische Universität München (School of Medicine and Health) has now adopted this approach and applied it to an acoustic trocar system.
