👉 Exciting collaboration for vocational training and skilled worker integration in North Rhine-Westphalia!   At the beginning of November, TAFH members Sarah Schönfelder and Claudia Umanzor Zelaya had the honor of attending an exciting initiative by IHK Nord Westfalen to develop an education project with the Centro Técnico Hondureño Alemán (CTHA), where the Ambassador of Honduras, Mauricio Bueso, and Dr. Jaeckel from the IHK Nord Westfalen served as driving force behind an initiative, which aims to create long-term links between our education systems and industries.   The need for skilled workers is growing across Germany as the Skilled Immigration Act (FEG) reduces bureaucratic barriers. Targeted cooperation between foreign vocational schools, such as CTHA, and German companies not only provides young professionals with career opportunities, but also helps companies tap into a larger, more diverse talent pool. The long-term goal is to create meaningful transnational relationships that foster both professional growth and intercultural competence.   ☝Facts: ☑️ A group of 8 vocational students from Honduras are taking part of this pilot project between IHK and CHTA ☑️ A four-week internship with companies Beresa GmbH & Co. KG, Langguth GmbH and BASF will be completed by the end of November   A visit to the FH Münster #Steinfurt technology campus was conceptualized within this initiative which fits also perfectly with our newly acquired FHiT project, which promotes international talent in our region. The aim of the visit in the beginning of this week was to discuss further opportunities for international vocational students, with a particular focus on introducing them to the possibility of continuing their education at our University of Applied Sciences.   Prof. Thomas Juestel, campus speaker in Steinfurt, warmly welcomed the visitors from Honduras and emphasized the importance of international cooperation in education. Lisa Feldkamp then presented our international degree program International Engineering and Prof. Dr. rer. nat. habil. Reinhart Job introduced the ETI department. The visits to the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Technology at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, led by Hilmar Apmann, and the @Maker Space, led by Sascha Wagner, were particularly exciting and hands-on for students. We are very interested in further cooperation in terms of training and further education of young people in and from Honduras in engineering fields. We are excited to see where this visit takes us and look forward to the potential of further collaboration! 🌍How to retent "International Talent" in our region? 🌍 This was the topic of the Dutch-German symposium last Monday: round about 50 experts from universities, organizations and institutions out of the Euregion and international students from Münster came together at the Msd - Münster School Of Design, Fh Münster to discuss how Münsterland and Twente can are attract and retent international talents for the local labour market. The symposium, Retention of International Talent in the Local Ecosystem: Münsterland and Twente, was organized by FH Münster, TAFH Münster GmbH, Münsterland e.V., Hogeschool Saxion and the World Trade Center Twente. It started with a warm welcome from Carsten Schröder, followed by an impuls from Dr. Jessica Schüller, MBA from DAAD Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst on building "Supportive Career Ecosystems for Global Talent". Thanks to Jessica - it was very inspiring! The idea of the symposium was born in the long-standing cooperation with Saxion and Münsterland e.V. in order to gain insights into existing projects and initiatives in the border regions and to deepen the knowledge of multipliers on both sides of the border. The day was moderated in Dutch and German by Sarah Schönfelder and Angelika Fliegner. In the first block, the Saxion UAS, the University of Twente, the WTC Twente with the Expat Center East Netherlands, the Onboarding@Münsterland service and the FH Münster UAS presented their projects and services relating to the onboarding and recruitment of international specialists. For us a special focus was on our projects INTERLOCALITY and FHIT. After various input, the guests had the opportunity to exchange ideas and insights in the afternoon based on input during dynamic workshops. Also, the TECH.LAND initiative was presented as a cross border approach which can provide an attractive labour market for international talents. 🎓Some learnings: 1. We have many excellent students at our universities who want to stay, but they are still “hidden potential” and we need to make them more visible to the labor market and better prepared for the transition. 2. We need to create a strong “welcome culture”. AND: By joining forces, we can achieve a lot for our talents in our border region! Next steps: 1. We will include students and companies perspectives in the next edition. 2. Unconscious bias and intercultural competence would be important topics for the next round! 3. #Enschede in 2025! Den Studierenden „Lust auf die Arbeitswelt von morgen“ zu machen ist für den Career & Talent Service der FH Münster ein wichtiges Anliegen. Aus aktuellen Umfragen unter unseren Studierenden wissen wir, dass vor allem direkte und niedrigschwellige Kontakte zu Unternehmen (aus der Region) wichtig für diese sind. Auch die Unbekanntheit vieler potentielle Arbeitgeber ist häufig ein Hindernis die richtigen Kontakte für sich zu finden. Über die TAFH Münster GmbH haben Studierende der FH Münster Zugriff auf ein starkes und vielseitiges Arbeitgebernetzwerk, mit dem wir unsere Studierenden an der FH Münster so früh wie möglich vernetzen möchten. Und dies geht über viele, unterschiedliche Formate. Damit auch Unternehmen wissen wie und wo man den Eingang in die Hochschule findet, fand unter dem Motto "Hochschulkooperationen: Wie vernetze ich mich optimal mit der FH Münster?" in der vergangenen Woche deshalb das zweite Dialogformat #fhorumFachkräfte 2024 bei unserem langjährigen Praxispartner Jüke Systemtechnik GmbH in Altenberge /Kreis Steinfurt) statt. Aus drei unterschiedlichen Perspektiven wurde das Thema im Laufe des Nachmittags beleuchtet – das hieß für die 40 Gäste aus dem Bereich Personal & Recruiting sehr viel Input. Janina Ostendorf begann mit einem Impuls darüber wie Unternehmen auf strategischer Ebene verschiedenen Kooperationsformate von Hochschulen optimal für das Employer Branding nutzen können. Dabei wurde eines ganz deutlich – das Netzwerk (ist heute) unfassbar wichtig!  Danke für den inspirierenden Vortrag und die Übersicht der "neue" Kooperationsformate. Welche Möglichkeiten es auf zentralem Niveau an der FH Münster gibt und welche Eingänge für Unternehmen es auf der Fachbereichsebene z.B am ITB gibt, stellten im Anschluss Sarah Schönfelder, Referentin für Arbeitgeberkontakte bei der TAFH Münster GmbH & Markus Schwering, Professor am Institut für Technische Betriebswirtschaft der FH Münster (ITB), vor. Stephan Hüwel rundete dies mit einer Vielzahl von Praxisbeispielen ab, die Jüke seit vielen Jahren nutzt, um frühzeitig mit Talenten der FH Münster in Kontakt zu treten und vor allem kontinuierlich sichtbar zu sein – sei es durch das #Deutschlandstipendium oder #Abschlussarbeiten.   Ein besonderer Dank geht an dieser Stelle noch einmal an Max Juergens, Christina Essing und Stephan Hüwel für die herzliche Gastfreundschaft und die langjährige Zusammenarbeit. Der Kleinprojektefonds INDUSTR_I4.0 beschleunigt den digitalen Wandel in der verarbeitenden Industrie in der deutsch-niederländischen Grenzregion. Dieses Projekt zielt speziell auf die Gruppe der KMU ab, die sich mit den führenden Unternehmen in diesem Bereich vernetzen wollen: die Meute.
