We recently had the pleasure to welcome 30 enthusiastic Geodesy students at ZfT as part of the 25th Conference of Geodesy Students (KonGeoS https://lnkd.in/eDMjZqJq). 🌍 🛰️ The students received insights into our satellite platforms and the fascinating application scenarios of our distributed small satellite missions, especially highlighting geodetic applications. Today, we had the honor of hosting Mr. Füracker at our facilities. The primary focus of his visit was the Bavarian project #CuBy. We proudly presented the current status to Mr. Füracker and discussed the upcoming steps in this groundbreaking project. We also provided a future outlook beyond the demonstrator mission to encompass the full mission's potential. CuBy is our ambitious project aimed at developing small, agile satellites, designed to enhance communication and data transfer capabilities. These compact satellites will play a crucial role in various applications, from environmental monitoring to enhancing connectivity in remote areas. At the end of the visit, we were thrilled to showcase our state-of-the-art test and research hall, where we demonstrated how satellites will be constructed in the future and the rigorous testing they undergo to ensure they are space-ready. A big thank you to Mr. Füracker for his time and insightful discussions. We're excited about the future of #CuBy and the impact it will have on satellite technology. ZfT at IAC 2024 🛰️ 🚀 Today our TOM project will be presented at the IAC. It is an earth observation mission based on a formation of three 3U CubeSats. Using the different perspectives of the 3 satellites a 3D models will be created with photogrammetric methods, e.g. for monitoring ash clouds 🌋. More details about the challenges in TOM, such as formation control, coordinated & precise pointing, exact timing of image captures accross all three satellites will be adressed in the talk at 4:44pm in Session B4.7 "Constellation and Distributed Systems" - Space Hall2. 🛰🛰🛰 ZfT Satellit auf Feierlichkeit zum Tag der Deutschen Einheit ausgestellt 🛰🛰🛰 Wir sind stolz, dass das Land Bayern einen unseren Satelliten 🛰 als Beispiel für Innovationen aus Bayern auf den Feierlichkeiten zum Tag der Deutschen Einheit ausgestellt hat. Die Bayerische Staatskanzlei sagt dazu: "Bayern ist stolz auf seine Vielfalt. Im Rahmen einer Wanderausstellung präsentierte der bayerische Stand auf dem Tag der Deutschen Einheit in Schwerin sieben Objekte aus ganz Bayern, die das breite Spektrum der Leistungsfähigkeit des Freistaats exemplarisch abdecken – von der Forschung über die Tradition bis hin zur Kultur. 🚀 Mission Update: Successful Fine Pointing Tests with QUBE 🛰️   ✨ Last week, QUBE’s LEOP reached a significant milestone with fine pointing tests successfully tracking our Ground Station in Würzburg. A few minutes before the overpass, QUBE's ADCS transitioned into fine pointing mode, configuring all necessary sensors, filters, controllers, and actuators. When first contact was established, QUBE was already pointing toward our ground station!   🎉 QUBE maintained its tracking for the entire duration of the overpass without any disturbances. Thus, a critical step in verifying the fine pointing mode was successfully passed.   💻 The collected data are now carefully compared with Hardware-in-the-Loop tests conducted before satellite delivery to calibrate and optimize attitude performance. We're excited to keep pushing forward and continue with LEOP to collect more in-orbit data in upcoming experiments to further optimize the satellite’s performance. #SpaceTechnology #SatelliteTracking #MissionSuccess #QUBE #ADCS #Innovation 🤝  Qube Mission Collaboration This project is the result of a close partnership between Zentrum für Telematik e.V. and several key collaborators, including Deutsches Zentrum für Luft-und Raumfahrt e.V., DLR Institut für Kommunikation und Navigation, Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light, FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg and Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. Together, we accumulated the necessary interdisciplinary expertise in an excellent way to advance the frontiers of quantum communication and satellite technology. ZfT auf der SatKom2024 Wir waren mit unserem Partner S4 auf der 8. Nationalen Konferenz zur Satellitenkommunikation der DLR in Bonn. Dort hatten wir die Gelegenheit unsere Telekommunikationssatelliten der nationalen Raumfahrtbeauftragten, Frau Dr. Anna Christmann, vorzustellen. Mit den ausgestellten Projekten QUBE, LoLaSat und dem Verbundprojekt 6G-TakeOff konnte das ZfT mittlerweile eine wichtige Pionierrolle beim "internet of space" in Deutschland übernehmen. #NDSATCOM #SATCOM #QUBE #6GTAKEOFF #LOLASAT

Wichtiger Schritt für Raumfahrtstandort Würzburg Im großen Festsaal des Wirtschaftsministeriums übergab Staatssekretär Gotthardt die Förderbescheide in Höhe von 2 Mio € an das Zentrum für Telematik e.V. (ZfT) und die Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, um gemeinsam den Zukunftsbereich sehr niedriger Erdumlaufbahnen zu untersuchen. Hier leistet das ZfT bereits mit den in der Realisierung stehenden Kleinsatelliten-Missionen LoLaSat in der Telekommunikation und CuBy in der Erdbeobachtung weltweite Pionierarbeiten. Die Fraunhofer-Allianz Space wird mit den Instituten Fraunhofer EMI (Freiburg), Fraunhofer IIS (Erlangen) und Fraunhofer ISC (Würzburg) dieses mit Schwerpunkt in Würzburg durchgeführte Projekt unterstützen. https://lnkd.in/eaBa_xfV
