🔬The future of #Cosmetic testing is being transformed by innovative approaches like vegan analysis and rapid microbial methods (RMMs). Traditional microbiology methods are being complemented by solutions such as VeganSure®, which uses plant-based or synthetic media to ensure safety without compromising vegan ethics. Standardized microbiological testing, including preservative efficacy and challenge testing, remains integral, while rapid testing solutions address the increasing demand for faster market releases. 🧫 RMMs, such as #ATP bioluminescence, colorimetric growth detection, autofluorescence, viability-based technologies, and molecular methods like #PCR, enable quicker and more efficient detection of microbial contamination compared to conventional methods. These techniques reduce waste, support eco-friendly practices, and align with sustainability goals, making them ideal for the modern cosmetics industry. 🤩 The evolution in testing methodologies not only enhances precision and efficiency but also addresses environmental and ethical concerns, positioning #RMMs as a key innovation for future microbiological testing. 📧 Contact us for more information: cosmetics@tentamus.com

Our lab is making a difference in environmental protection! 💚🌱
Gifting nature 🌱 This year we got something special planned for our esteemed customers and coworkers, that we'd like to share with our followers as well - we planted trees! 50 Mangrove trees in Tanzania and a total of 1200 m² of mixed forest in the Mawas region of Borneo to be exact. Look through our Slideshow to find out more and see our certificate (the certificate is provided in german) 🤓 Mangrove trees play an important role for the environment: not only are they one of the richest biodiversity systems in the world, but they also protect precious coastal soils from erosion. With the Mangrove trees, we also support the non-profit Plastic Free Organisation, that are dedicated to the protection and rescue of sea turtles 🐢 With the mixed forest we secure the livelihood of the local population by providing work and shelter for the people, animals and plants living there as well as support lowering CO² emissions in the future 🌳 We wanted to contribute something meaningful for us all and we hope you like our early christmas gift 🎁 do you have more ideas how we can continue to share meaningful things for all of us? 🥛 #Milk is a nutrient-rich food that is mainly produced by cows, but also by goats and sheep, and is rich in calcium, protein, vitamins and minerals. Milk can be used to produce numerous dairy products, for instance: - Fresh milk in various fat levels - Yoghurt, which is produced by fermentation - Quark and cheese, which vary from cream cheese to hard cheese depending on the degree of ripeness - Cream, which is particularly high in fat - Butter, which is made from milk fat -Milk powder, which is mainly used in the food industry and for baby food 🌱 In addition to animal milk, plant-based alternatives such as soy milk, oat milk and almond milk are becoming increasingly popular, especially among people with lactose intolerance or vegan diets. 🐄 #RawMilk is an untreated natural product and therefore highly perishable and must be processed under strictly controlled conditions. This includes, for example, absolute adherence to the cold chain, impeccable cleanliness of the production facilities and processing procedures that ensure the raw milk is processed quickly. Hygiene is also crucial for a safe end product, particularly in the case of foods such as cheese made from raw milk, which require longer storage and maturing before being placed on the market. 🔬 Our #Laboratories offer analyses of milk and dairy products required for quality assurance. Microbial contamination with pathogens such as Campylobacter, E. coli, Salmonella or Listeria can be a serious source of danger to human health. The quality of milk and products such as cheese, quark and yoghurt can also be impaired by chemical residues and contaminants. Among others, the following substances can be detected by our laboratory methods: 🟢 Veterinary drug residues (e.g. antibiotics and growth hormones) 🟢 Plant protection products (pesticides) that enter the milk via the animals' feed 🟢 Mycotoxins (e.g. aflatoxins), which are ingested via feed contaminated with mold 🟢 Environmental contaminants (e.g. polychlorinated biphenyls (PBC), dioxins 🟢 Heavy metals (e.g. lead, cadmium, mercury) 🟢 Dioxin and dioxin-like PCBs 🔎 Milk analysis also includes the screening, identification and quantification of genetically modified organisms. This refers to genetically modified plants such as maize and soy, which are consumed by the animals as animal #Feed. The milk is analyzed for DNA fragments of these plants in order to detect them. Products from animals that have been fed with genetically modified organisms must be labeled. 🏷️ To ensure that your dairy products are correctly labeled, we offer #Labeling tests in accordance with national and international standards. Incorrect labeling can have serious consequences, especially for perishable and potentially allergenic products. We support you in the correct labeling of best-before date, net quantity, storage instructions, nutritional labeling and other labeling regulations. 🍅 Have you ever wondered why a tomato, which impresses with its size and bright color, tastes comparatively watery? 🍏 Or why a certain type of apple only develops its fruity-sweet aroma after weeks or months of storage, while biting into a freshly picked apple could disappoint in terms of taste? 👃 The reason for this lies in qualitative and quantitative differences in the aroma composition of #Fruit and #Vegetables. When fruit and vegetables are eaten, the volatile aromatic substances pass through the throat to the olfactory receptors in the nose, where they are perceived as part of the taste sensation. In fact, a large part of what is colloquially referred to as taste is actually smell. Factors such as ripeness, storage and breeding objectives often influence the sensory properties, which can lead to differences in taste. 💡 Optimizing the #Aroma of fruit and vegetables plays a key role in quality and customer acceptance, as the aroma composition varies greatly depending on the variety, origin and external conditions - such as: - sunlight - temperature - rainfall - soil conditions 🧪 aromaLAB GmbH offers specialized aroma analysis and combines modern analytical and sensory methods, such as mass spectrometry and gas chromatography-olfactometry, for the high-precision detection and quantification of aroma compounds. It identifies key aroma compounds that characterize the taste and smell of fruit and vegetable varieties and uses these as standards for comparisons. 👍 With well-founded expertise, aromaLAB supports quality testing, storage studies and variety development in order to optimize cultivation and production processes. This data-based approach provides scientific explanations for sensory differences and helps to optimize the aroma in a targeted manner. Do you have problems with #FoodAuthenticity due to lack of knowledge? - We are here to assist you! Let us tell you about a notable case involving a client with a new supplier. 🔬 Tentamus chelab GmbH is an ISO 17025 accredited lab and specializes in analyzing #FruitJuices and beverages to ensure quality and authenticity for its clients. While initial quality tests were within specification, deviations in carbon isotope ratios were detected. Our technique, analyzing the 13C/12C ratio, can reveal adulteration by detecting sugar from C4-plants (like maize or sugarcane) in juices typically made from C3-plants. We analyze the carbon isotope ratio in the sugar fraction as well as in the pulp of the same sample. If pulp and sugar originate from the sample plant, there should be at most a small difference between the two. 🔎 Further investigation confirmed the new supplier added external sugar, which was common for their exports to Asian markets but violated European standards. After discussions and process adjustments, the supplier aligned with EU requirements, and the product met all standards. Tentamus chelab’s expertise helped resolve the issue, ensuring both parties were satisfied. 📧 For more information on how we can help to discover and prevent food fraud, please contact our expert Arne Duebecke via arne.duebecke@tentamus.com 🔽 Read the full case in the newsletter edition of december 2024 by Food Authenticity Network (FAN).
