Adaptive Umwandlungssysteme für erneuerbare Energie- und Kohlenstoffquellen
Info

🔬 We’re excited to share a recent publication from our researchers in the field of Electrochemical Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (EC-NMR), which holds great potential for advancing electrolysis and battery research — key areas in the transition to sustainable energy solutions. 🎉 The study introduces a workflow using 3D Finite Element Method (FEM) simulations matching with experiments to address the challenges of integrating conductive components of electrochemical cells into the NMR sensitive volume. By improving our understanding of distortions in the static magnetic field B0 and radio frequency field B1, this research enhances future cell design in EC-NMR. One of the key findings was the discovery of B1 amplifications in coin cells, which could lead to more effective design of EC-NMR setups with potential surface-selective excitation. This work shows our dedication to developing advanced measurement tools that can support the development of sustainable and defossilized fuel alternatives. 🌍♻️ Explore the full study here: https://lnkd.in/en4HdBSW #fuelscience #rwth #sustainability #NMR #electrochemistry #electrolysis #alternativefuels

Publication alert! 📢 One of our latest studies was published in the journal “Nature Energie”. The joint work by LTT, TME, ifas, CEC and ITMC deals with hydroformylated Fischer-Tropsch (HyFiT) fuels composed of optimized alkane-alcohol blends as an energy carrier for clean transport. Besides the design of the production process for HyFit fuels, the compatibility with conventional fuel systems and various fuel properties determined by experiments and practical vehicle tests were considered. In addition, a well-to-wheel life cycle assessment finds that HyFiT fuels enable the transition to net-zero greenhouse gas emissions, showing simultaneously a favorable profile in other environmental parameters.
