--- WEIDMÜLLER WEDNESDAY --- (And so time for a rare clip in German 🇩🇪 ). True Story: I've lived in Germany now for over 20 years (I grew up in the leafy south of England 🇬🇧) and so I have since spoken German with a slight accent (unavoidable if you first start learning a language at 23, I found). Although I learned German relatively quickly, I have never spoken it to our children. My wife and I agreed very early on that our kids would only ever hear English from me and German or English from her. (We figured that they had enough other German influences such as Kindergarten, family etc.). My daughter must have been 5 years old when, as she heard me ordering rolls in a bakery in German, she turned to me, looked up and said: "I didn't know you can speak German, Daddy!". And that is how it has continued. I don't usually work in German but when clients ask for it (usually when they release the same film in two languages), I must confess, I really enjoy it. I am patently aware that I may not pronounce every word perfectly and that my use of der, die, and das is sometimes awry 🙄 ....but as I see it, we are all children of the world - so let's just enjoy it. Presenter chronicles 🎤I never imagined I would be dancing on stage with a giant koala 🐨at the Gala Dinner Event to celebrate PATRIZIA SE 40th anniversary! How did this happen? 🍬900 employees from 27 offices across the globe finally got together in person. After 5 long years and a pandemic they were so ready to connect and have fun. 🍬”tone from the top”: the founder, Wolfgang Egger, was clearly enjoying every minute of the spectacular event he hosted to celebrate 40 years of success, growth and teamwork. He founded the company when he was just 19 and today it has over 50 billion Euro in real assets under management. He wanted to thank his team for the good times and the hard times and welcome his successor. Good vibes all round. 🍬the event team pure events and Birgit Humpisch, created an unforgettable evening in a stunning location SHOWPALAST MÜNCHEN | Eventlocation with delicious food from Käfer, lighting up the room with chandeliers and a warm LED stage backdrop. Sound and lighting were magnificent thanks to Simon Bayne and Wilhelm & Willhalm - event technology group. The guests were happy and then ecstatic with their “surprise”; a live concert with Nomcebo Zikode singing her viral hit “Jerusalema”. 🍬and that’s how the koala got on stage. The organisers had come up with a fun “Jerusalema Dance Challenge” to celebrate cultural diversity and unite the teams from around the globe through dance and music. From Frankfurt to Tokyo to Canberra, teams got together to learn the choreography and film themselves dancing a few weeks prior to the gala. The guests voted for their favourite team after dinner. And guess who won? Canberra-Australia 🐨And they had the time of their lives dancing on stage with Nomcebo and her dancers! Insights from Diebold Nixdorf's Intersect Las Vegas 2024 In late August, I had the privilege of serving as the MC and keynote speaker for Diebold Nixdorf’s Intersect Las Vegas 2024. Whether in Europe or the United States, Intersect is always a dynamic and thought-provoking event that brings together some of the sharpest minds and leading innovators in banking to explore the future of the financial industry. Looking back at a 17-year relationship with the company that today is Diebold Nixdorf, I was thrilled to be asked to host Diebold Nixdorf’s Intersect 2024 in Las Vegas, an exciting three-day banking conference, where industry leaders gather to discuss the future of consumer banking. In addition to serving as the event’s MC, I was also asked to deliver the opening keynote, setting the stage for a thought-provoking program centered on Relationships, Choices, and Simplicity. In my keynote, I explored how human behavior—particularly in consumer banking—is shaped by three intrinsic motivators: relationships, choices, and simplicity. It was essential to remind everyone that, at the end of the day, technology and innovation are driven by these core human needs: Relationships: Relationships are the cornerstone of human interaction, driving everything from personal connections to business engagements. The banking industry is no exception, where trust and relationships with customers remain pivotal. Choices: The power of choice gives consumers a sense of control. Even the anticipation of making choices, whether during a simple task like grocery shopping or something as exciting as a trip to Las Vegas, triggers dopamine in our brains. However, too many choices can lead to choice paralysis, a phenomenon many experience. Simplicity: Our brains are wired to conserve energy by seeking the simplest path. In banking, this means making processes more accessible for customers, whether through AI-driven solutions or streamlined service experiences. Presenter chronicles 🎥 Porsche fans and AFOL's (Adult Fans of Lego) came together last night in the Porsche AG Museum to explore innovation and creativity during the Special Event with the LEGO Group and the brand new Lego Technic Porsche GT4 e-Performance model. Together with Porsche GT4 e-Performance Project Manager Björn Förster, Porsche Development Driver Joerg Bergmeister, Lego Design Manager Aurélien Rouffiange and Lego Interactive Play Designer Ann Karring we explored the motto "Driven by Dreams" and how the real car and the model came to life. ✨ Ferry Porsche said "“Those lucky enough to build a business out of a dream, owe it to the world to be the caretakers of dreams”.
