🎉We are excited to announce that we are finalist for the JEC Award in the Automotive & Road Transportation – Process category. The Thermoplastic Sandwich Mouldiing Technology project with Fraunhofer Institute for Microstructure of Materials and Systems IMWS was a cooperation with the project partners Daimler Truck AG, ElringKlinger, ThermHex Waben GmbH, edevis GmbH and ENGEL. A lightweight compartment flap was developed as a demonstrator and a production process that is suitable for large-scale production of thermoplastic sandwich components. This month the Sampe Journal featured a great article by Santino Wist and Prof. Dr. Thomas Gries from ITA Institut für Textiltechnik der RWTH Aachen University about Honeycomb Sandwich Molding. The research was carried out as a part of the funded project InnoSandwich together with Geta mbH from Wangen as the train interior specialist and us, EconCore N.V. with our ThermHex Waben GmbH honeycomb core material. It is great to be a part of this big step towards recyclable thermoplastic train interiors.

Dr.-Ing. Jochen Harry Pflug was excited to see Andreas Neugebauer with the newest EconCore/ThermHex WAVY honeycomb from PESU at the ITHEC - International Conference and Exhibition on Thermoplastic Composites in Bremen last week. It is the world first PESU polymer based honeycomb core panel. It uses Toray Advanced Composites brand-new PESU/GF TC1130 PESU Cetex laminates. Special thanks to Wouter Winant at EconCore. 📆

📅 This week we visited the ITHEC - International Conference and Exhibition on Thermoplastic Composites in Bremen to see our business partners from SABIC. Peter Mintjens from SABIC Specialties presented recyclable full Ultem™ solutions: PEI sandwich panels with our PEI Wavy honeycomb core. Great sandwich part samples with welded Ultem™ injection molded elements and with some curvature, made from flat panels in very short cycle times. Always great connecting and sharing the latest improvements of our great technical teams!🔗🤝

🗨 A brief recap of our time at the IAA TRANSPORTATION. It was great seeing different applications of our honeycomb sandwich panels. For example the Delignit Group uses our light weight sustainable honeycombs to build floors for buses which makes them lighter and that way reduces CO2. 🌱🚛 #iaatransportation24 #honeycomb #sustainable
