The idea of hiring slowly and firing quickly sounds straightforward but can be challenging in practice. It’s easy to decline a candidate initially, but what happens when you’re short-staffed or desperate? What if you're in a tight spot? Here are three key focuses for team building: 🔸Vision A clear vision simplifies decision-making. Do candidates share your vision and values? They may be talented, but are they the right fit? 🔸Drive Are they driven and eager? Hard work often surpasses talent. In my experience, top performance is more about work ethic than natural ability. Entitlement can harm culture and motivation. 🔸Flexibility Consider their goals and yours. If they’re likely to stay only a year, is that acceptable? It's crucial to be flexible with hiring, including using freelancers. Not everyone will stay long-term, and that’s okay.
