What a fruitful exchange during yesterday’s “#FCI welcomes #MSNZ Network Germany” event! Claudia Arndt, medical scientist, #MSNZ fellow and #research group leader from Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf and TU Dresden, gave a very interesting talk on “Beyond Conventional #CAR-T Therapy: Development of Theranostic Adapter CAR-T for Inpatient and Outpatient Treatment.” Her #tandem research group together with Frederick Faßlrinner focuses on “Engineered T Cells for personalized cancer therapy”. The engaging discussions with our local #MSNZ and #FCI scientists made the event an excellent platform to exchange ideas and to foster cross-site #collaboration. It was a great pleasure to host the kick-off meeting of #ONCOnnect, a collaborative initiative of the Network of Oncology Centers of Excellence in Germany, at Universitätsmedizin Frankfurt! ✨ ONCOnnect has the goal of facilitating high quality of care for #cancer patients in the regions surrounding the Comprehensive Cancer Centers (CCCs). We believe that cancer patients need access to innovative diagnostics and treatment – independently of where they live, whether it is a big city or a rural area! On November 11, over 100 participants from CCCs came together in #Frankfurt to discuss first task force results in five key areas: 🔵 Prevention and early detection 🟡 Patient involvement 🟢 Clinical trials in the region 🟠 Quality assurance 🟣 Digital tools for regional networks Thanks to funding by the Deutsche Krebshilfe, ONCOnnect will be able to address these topics and to concentrate efforts on strengthening the regional networks of CCCs over the next years. The kick-off meeting has laid the foundation for this ambitious undertaking, and we are looking forward to working together! 🤝 💪

Today, November 8, is World Day for Children of #Parents with #Cancer. 👨👩👧👦 Cancer profoundly affects not only the individual diagnosed but also their loved ones, impacting the entire family. The burden on children who live with a parent facing cancer deserves special recognition. These children go through a lot and need special attention and support in this challenging family situation. Through our "Family Consultation" (Familiensprechstunde) project, we aim to help parents talk openly with their children about the illness, while also giving #children the space and opportunity to ask questions and receive age-appropriate explanations. #Counseling sessions are held at the UCT Cancer Counseling Center and are open to all affected families, not only those treated at the University Cancer Center (UCT) Frankfurt.
