⚠️ A new era in business life will begin on January 1, 2025: The introduction of electronic invoicing (e-invoicing) will be mandatory for all taxable B2B entrepreneurs. 📈 The switch to electronic invoices offers numerous advantages. It enables companies to optimize their processes and work in a more efficient and modern way.At its core, an electronic invoice is an invoice in a special digital format that is standardized and machine-readable. ✅ Advantages of the electronic invoice: - Increased efficiency - Cost savings - security - Environmental friendliness 🧾 Choose the right type of electronic invoice for your company.PDF files are often mistakenly regarded as electronic invoices, but do not meet the required standards.E-invoices must be in a structured, machine-readable format such as XML. 🏆 The introduction of electronic invoicing requires adjustments to systems and processes and possibly new software.Despite these challenges, more efficient workflows can be created that reduce costs and increase competitiveness in the long term. 🤝🏻 Dominik Rendigs and Dustin Dietrich as well as colleagues from other locations are available for advice.

⚠️ There are some tax changes this year. Here is a small overview of some changes: ❌ Abolition of tax classes 3 and 5 According to the draft law, tax classes 3 and 5 are to be abolished from 2030.Married couples will then automatically be classified in tax class 4 as part of the factor procedure. The tax office will calculate the income distribution and allowances; this will make back tax payments less frequent, but the monthly tax burden will tend to increase. Spousal splitting will be retained in the factor method so that couples can continue to submit a joint tax return. 💼 Basic allowance The basic tax-free allowance will be increased by EUR 180 to EUR 11,784 in 2024 and will remain tax-free as it represents the minimum subsistence level. Further increases are planned for 2025 (to EUR 12,084) and 2026 (to EUR 12,336) to take account of the increased cost of living. At the same time, the income thresholds for higher tax rates will be adjusted, with the exception of the maximum tax rate of 45%, which will remain unchanged from an taxable income of EUR 277,826.The exemption thresholds for the solidarity surcharge will also be raised in order to avoid bracket creep. 👧🏻👦🏼 Child allowance The child allowance is to increase gradually in this and in the following years. In 2024 by EUR 228 to EUR 6,612, in 2025 by another EUR 60 to EUR 6,672 and in 2026 again by EUR 156 to EUR 6,828. This is according to the government draft, which is why the figures are subject to change. 💰 Child benefit The federal government is also planning to increase the child benefit by EUR 5 per month. This measure is to come into force from next year and is intended to ease the financial burden on families.

🌱Sustainability is the New Standard ⚠️With the green deal the #EU adopted several guidelines to reach the target of a “climate neutral” continent till 2050. From 2026, large companies to which at least two of the following three points apply must report for the fiscal year in accordance with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (#CSRD) and the EU Taxonomy: ➡️Balance sheet total ≥ €25 million ➡️Revenue ≥ €50 million ➡️Ø 250 employees #CSRD‼️ Companies that are required to report under the CSRD must prepare their reports in accordance with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (#ESRS). The ESRS are divided into two general standards, five environmental standards, four social standards and one governance standard. Each standard must be considered from the perspective of double materiality. This means that only topics on which the company has an impact, or which lead to opportunities or risks for the company must be reported on. Once the sustainability reports have been prepared, they must be reviewed and published. #EU-Taxonomy ‼️ The EU taxonomy, on the other hand, is focused on the classification of ecological economic activities. Three steps must be carried out chronologically: 1. Check whether your own economic activity is taxonomy-eligible. This requires it to be listed in the EU catalogue. 2. Check whether the taxonomy-eligible activity is also taxonomy-aligned. This requires the activity to make a positive contribution to an environmental objective and not significantly harm other environmental objectives. Additionally, various social standards (minimum safeguards) must be met. 3. For a taxonomy-compliant activity, turnover, investment costs (CapEx) and operating costs (OpEx) must be stated on a pro rata basis. 📧If you have any detailed questions on the topics, please do not hesitate to contact us.
