That’s why we’re proud to announce that Latvia’s new ePassport is awarded Regional ID Document of the Year at the HSP EMEA 2024 conference! This ePassport captures the spirit of travel and beautiful nature with its crane motif, symbolizing the journey across borders and the return home. It's an emblem of Latvia’s values and its commitment to a secure and seamless travel experience. Partnering with Latvia’s Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs, we integrated four groundbreaking security elements. The passport data page combined with the sophisticated design of the passport booklet makes for one of the most secure and innovative travel documents on the market: 🔹 Amber ID: A metallic window that shifts color with light, adding an almost impossible-to-replicate layer of personalization. 🔹 Diamond ID: Dynamic UV-secured visuals, producing effects only visible under blacklight. 🔹 Spectre ID: Tilt-animated images in transparent areas, enhancing verification with interactive elements. 🔹 CLIP ID Echo: A vivid, lifelike color photo revealing hidden biographical data viewable from certain angles. Carsten Müller, our Director of International Sales & Business Development, sums it up: “This passport introduces four security features at once that are entirely new to the market, setting a new benchmark in the industry.” And it’s not just about security. What should the future of travel look like? 🤔 This question guides and inspires us every day. Ensuring a seamless passenger flow is at the core of our mission, and we’re not pursuing it alone. The International Civil Aviation Organization Assembly provides a fantastic opportunity to connect with others in the travel industry who share this vision. This year, we took part with our own booth where we showcased how Digital Travel Credentials (DTC) are transforming the travel experience. A highlight was the presentation by our Senior Solutions Manager Nick Larter on “Harmonizing Standards for Seamless Passenger Flow: A Vision for Modern Travel”. From boosting efficiency to enhancing safety, we’re always thrilled to share our progress and collaborate on initiatives that make a difference. Or as Nick Larter puts it: “Our mission is to go beyond products and deliver solutions that ensure a seamless, secure travel experience—before, during, and after the journey.” We’re already looking forward to the next gathering!

Sometimes it is important to step back and take a moment to recognise special achievements. Today we do this for our colleagues in Iraq, who have done outstanding work in recent years.💪😁 After supplying the first passport elements and then complete passports to the country from 2012, the first milestone in our close and trusting cooperation was the contract to produce the National Identity Documents (NID) in 2015. This was followed in 2015 by the contract to design our own factory in Iraq for the production of this high-security technology - a facility that was ceremonially handed over in 2019. For the world as a whole, the Covid-19 pandemic was a turning point, but one that we came through well together. Since then, our relationship has deepened considerably. Today, in a special ceremony at our headquarters in Munich, we jointly honoured this relationship and the achievements of our local team. We thank our partners in Iraq and all our colleagues who have contributed to this success story with their passion and dedication.

Setting the course for efficiency, quality, and growth 📈 With our Global Partner Summit having focused on our partners, we continued our deep dive into our portfolio at our International Business Line Meeting in our Veridos branch in Munich. For the second time, our Sales employees came together to learn about our latest products and solutions. They had the opportunity to experience new digital, mobile, and physical products hands-on and discuss how these can best support our customers’ needs and businesses. And this year was special: It was the first time that we combined the summit with our International Business Line Meeting, where we offered an additional deep dive into our portfolio. Will automated border crossings be here soon 🛫❓ Long queues at airport checkpoints, annoyed passengers, and stressed officials – the soaring number of travelers worldwide has been calling for solutions to make border crossings more efficient. The increasing use of automation can be a way to solve these problems. Automation technologies can streamline processes along the entire passenger journey – from the collection of personal data via Digital Travel Authorizations (DTAs) before the journey to biometric verification, e.g. in eKiosks and eGates. Governments and authorities are also feeling the pressure to provide their passengers with a seamless travel experience, which is why they are also increasingly pushing the use of automation technologies. 👩 While these technological advancements are a cause for optimism, we must keep in mind that the road to a seamless traveler experience must also meet the highest security demands. The short answer to the entry question is therefore: Frictionless border crossing is something we can expect in the future, but we’re not quite there yet. We’re celebrating more than 50 years of Greek-German cooperation in Thessaloniki 🇬🇷 🤝 More than half a century ago, in 1973, the Giesecke+Devrient Group placed its first order with the Athens security printer Matsoukis: the production of machine-readable passports in Arabic. This order marked the beginning of decades of cooperation between G+D, Veridos, and the leading global manufacturer of identity documents, leading to the birth of Veridos Matsoukis S.A in 2016.
