This guy sold his gaming company for over $160 million and co-founded a Web3 startup. After years of hard work, it’s time to share his story: In the photo next to me, you’ll see Oliver Löffler (aka Oli), co-founder and CEO of VOYA Games—a Web3 gaming startup we invested in through w3.fund. And this is his journey: 👀 In 2016, a group of lifelong gamers, including Oli, founded KolibriGames with the goal of creating the kind of games they loved to play. Their first major success, Idle Miner Tycoon, was launched later that year. 💥 By 2018, KolibriGames expanded to an office with 30 employees and gained international recognition. In 2020, they sold their shares in the company to Ubisoft for approximately $160 million. 💡 After investing in various startups, Oli was introduced to NFTs in 2021 and became heavily involved with major projects like Bored Ape Yacht Club, CryptoPunks, and CyberKongz. Recognizing both the potential and challenges of Web3 games, he set out to create a game that focused on fun, community engagement, and economic strategy. This led to the creation of Angry Dynomites Lab. 🏄♂️ In 2023, Oli and his new team launched Craft World, a Web3 game where players use NFTs to generate resources and craft new objects, attracting 10,000 monthly active users. Craft World features NFT collections (Fire and Water), available on OpenSea, with more collections in the works. 🦖 The long-term vision is to integrate real-world economic principles and provide a fully cross-platform gaming experience through Angry Dynomites Lab.
