Our Robodog wins Responsible Care Award from German Chemical Industry Association VCI 🎉We are delighted to have received the prize for the "digitalization" category. Congratulations to Stefan Schneiderbauer and team. Robodog SPOT carries out a wide range of jobs and gathers data that makes our production lines smarter. You can find SPOT walking on all fours, stepping gingerly through our Burghausen plant, as does SPOT's counterpart at our Nünchritz plant. They both support employees during plant inspections. AND THE WINNER IS 🏆👏🥇..... This year's WACKER Net Zero Award honors outstanding sustainability projects by our employees. Our ambitious sustainability targets require all of us to take action. This year's winning team invented a new method of purifying wastewater resulting from the production of our vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer dispersions (VAE). The new process is not only more sustainable in many respects, but also much more economical. Congratulations to Aurealis Therapeutics on their successful new funding round! It’s wonderful to see the team there progressing to Phase II clinical trials of AUP-16, a topical application to promote tissue regeneration in patients with chronic wounds. Wacker Biotech’s Amsterdam facility is proud to work with Aurealis. Under GMP conditions in a monoseptic environment using our LIBATEC® platform, we manufactured the live lactic acid bacteria drug substance for their successful Phase I clinical trial supply. All over the world 🌏, we are currently witnessing a substantial rise in temperatures. India, for example, recently experienced a period of scorching heat with temperatures of up to 45 °C. It’s no surprise that this trend goes hand in hand with a growing demand for air conditioning, driven mainly by China and India. In order to reduce the energy demand for cooling, external thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS) are an efficient solution, since they keep out the heat. The demands on modern architectural coatings are high: paints and plasters need to meet a wide range of requirements regarding their handling, performance and environmental characteristics. For example, storage stability and easy formulation and application are crucial, as are properties such as wet-scrub resistance and hiding power. Last but not least, environmental and health aspects are becoming increasingly important. A mine of information: did you know that we operate one of Germany’s most modern salt mines? It’s in Stetten, southern Germany. Rock salt is mined there for use as industrial and road salt. We use some of it in our plant in Burghausen. It is an irreplaceable processing aid for the production of silicones, hyperpure silicon, organic intermediates and pyrogenic silica. But salt from Stetten is also in demand among motorists and pedestrians alike. In snowy winters in particular, we deliver road salt every day to keep the roads clear of ❄️snow and 🧊ice. #Stetten #salt #saltmine #Safetyinwinter

Methanol is an important component in the production of silicone sealants. It can be derived from coal and natural gas, as well as from renewable resources such as grass cuttings, straw and sugar beet residue. To manufacture our ELASTOSIL® eco products, we use the mass balance approach to calculate the amount of biomethanol required and feed this into the production process. The process is certified to the REDcert2 standard by TÜV Nord, an independent validator. ELASTOSIL® eco grades are chemically identical to their standard counterparts made from fossil raw materials.
