New stretch-bend-straightening line At our site in Hagen-Halden, Germany, we recently brought a new stretch-bend-straightening line into operation. The new model can straighten stainless precision steel strip and carbon steels at a maximum of 300 meters per minute, twice as fast as before. The line can be used to reliably process extremely thin materials starting at just 0.05 mm thick and with a yield strength of up to 2,000 MPa.  Did you know? ℹ️ 🧐 The interaction of stretching and bending the material during the straightening process can reduce unwanted internal stresses in the cold rolled steel strip. As a result, the material has the optimal degree of flatness that our customers desire. Historical rolling mill stand at Waelzholz Brasmetal At the entrance to our Brazilian site’s factory premises, visitors are greeted by this restored heart of a former rolling line – namely the company’s first rolling mill from way back in 1975. Employees and visitors can use a QR code to access information about the history of this line. Learning about technical professions in a fun way Tinkering with metal, screwing on machine parts, soldering wire – these are all activities that took place at our annual Tec Day last week at the Nahmerhalle in Hagen, Germany. Organized by the South Westphalian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (SIHK) in Hagen, a total of eight industrial companies from around the region presented their vocational training programs. At the respective booths, eighth-grade students couldn complete small hands-on exercises and in doing so, learn about technical professions in a fun way. At our Waelzholz booth, for example, the young visitors had the opportunity to disassemble a real roller or form a coat hook out of metal. They were guided by our current trainees from a wide range of professions and programs under the supervision of our Head of Vocational Training Marco Luciani. And if the experience sparks an interest in a technical profession, the students can apply directly for an internship at Waelzholz and subsequently for a vocational training program. Insights into vocational training at Waelzholz Our new short videos provide exciting insights into our trainees’ day-to-day work at our German locations. From coming up with ideas for the videos all the way through to actually filming them, our vocational trainees were actively involved in the project to develop content that would appeal to potential applicants. On the days of the shoot, the focus was on having fun as well as presenting all the different vocational training programs we offer. This resulted in entertaining formats such as “Fact or Fiction” and “This or That,” which offer a light-hearted look at vocational training at Waelzholz. The Reels are part of our Instagram recruitment campaign and show what future trainees can expect with completing vocational training with our company. Blood drive at the Hagen site   Last week, the German Red Cross mobile blood drive team once again paid us a visit at our Hagen site in Germany. Our employees had the opportunity to donate blood during their working hours as part of the blood drive, which took place the entire day.   The event was organized by our health team, which includes members of the works council and the HR Department.   We’d like to thank the organizers and all of the donors for their support.
