A highlight of the visit was the tour of our parts manufacturing facility in Bocholt and our assembly plant in Voerde, to showcase our efficient processes from small gears including the hardening process to the assembly of the final product. We’re beyond proud to reveal that our 14MW medium-speed Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG) —a giant leap in drivetrain technology—has secured the Gold award by Windpower Monthly in the category “Top Drivetrains”! 🥇 But that's not all! We are equally excited to share that our innovative FlexibleFit concept has achieved an impressive 3rd place in the same category. 🏅 This shows, how important innovation in drivetrain technology is for us. With a weight of only 18 tons compared to around 40 tons for a similarly rated reference product, our 14MW PMSG stands out for its remarkable efficiency. News in the Wind World - WindEurope reveals its latest wind figures: Despite awarding record new wind capacity, we currently face barriers that hinder its 2030 renewable energy goals. 🔌Wind energy generates 20% of Europe's electricity (19% in the EU). The EU aims to increase this to 34% by 2030. 📰Last year, the EU added only 13 GW of new wind capacity, well below the 30+ GW needed annually to meet 2030 targets. Challenges are the lack of implementation of EU permitting rules in many countries, grid connection delays, and slow electrification pace. ✅In 2024, Europe awarded a record 37 GW of new wind capacity in government auctions (29 GW in the EU), laying a promising foundation for future growth. Urgent action is needed to turn these awards into actual installations. That's why we, together with our partners and customers, strive for further growth through collaboration. We did it again! We have earned the EcoVadis Platinum Medal and are therefore still in the top 1% of the world's most sustainable companies. Since the last assessment, the overall score has even risen from 78 to 83 thanks to the introduction of additional guidelines and projects. In the environmental area, an improvement from 80 to 90 points was achieved. In the area of ethics, the score rose from 70 to 80. Specific projects that have contributed to the EcoVadis rating include the introduction of a process for using heat from production processes to generate energy and increase energy efficiency. Regular monitoring and tests also guarantee environmental protection in production. Other measures promote the mental and physical well-being of employees as well as their career development. Regular audits ensure compliance with fair competition guidelines and evaluate Flender's suppliers in terms of environmental and social aspects. In addition, product innovations such as increasing the power density of wind gearboxes are driving the energy transition and reducing the consumption of resources. “We want to continue to be a pioneer for corporate social responsibility in our industry. We are striving for more in the future and want to continuously improve our work and initiatives over the next few years. An important aspect of this is cooperation and exchange with our partners to drive change forward together,” said Andreas Evertz, CEO of the Flender Group. Flender 125th anniversary celebration in India! We hosted grand celebrations to commemorate our 125th anniversary at the Indian locations in Kharagpur and Chennai. The event brought together representatives from customers, partners, government bodies, and industry associations, alongside our dedicated employees and management teams from both India and Germany. Especially within the wind industry the Winergy brand stands for strong partnership. Many of the guests from across industries and businesses shared their experience of association with Flender and Winergy. As part of the celebration, 125 trees were planted at the new Walajabad factory location, symbolizing growth and sustainability. Guests shared their thoughts and experiences with Flender, highlighting the strong relationships built over decades. Flender CEO Andreas Evertz said, “We have always been and will always be a large Flender family. Whether employees, customers, suppliers, partners, or owners—today we all feel like Flenderans.” “It was truly a proud moment for us to celebrate our 125th Anniversary.
