Want to improve your strategy execution? Here are 8 guiding questions you can ask during your next leadership meeting or QBR to address the issues that most regularly lead to failure. 1. Is your strategy accessible, understandable and actionable for employees? 2. How are employees involved in strategy development and execution, but also in channeling back learnings for course-corrects (see #8)? 3. Are strategic goals solely focussed on financial measures (looking backward) or also aimed at driving customer value (looking forward)? 4. Does your strategy provide guidance for setting priorities on deeper levels of the organization? 5. Are all teams independent of others in their contributions to strategic goals? In other words: are cross-functional dependencies aligned and resources for achieving them secured? 6. Do all teams have clarity and purpose about how they contribute to the overarching goals and narrative? 7. Do you continuously collect data (including leading indicators) on the degree of strategy achievement across the organization, so you can react early and introduce educated course-corrects? 8. Do you have an effective and transparent approach to continuous strategy development? Are there any questions you’d add? 💭 Comment below!

Almost every company we work with seeks to integrate 👏 AI 👏 in their business right now because they don't want to miss anything. Strategy work is not an exception here. But can AI really be applied in strategy in meaningful ways? If we understand strategy, following Michael Porter’s definition, as “defining and communicating the company’s unique position, making trade-offs, and forging fit among activities”, then the intuitive answer for many might be no. Data from McKinsey shows that in financial planning, for example, only 7% of executives say they use AI. The adoption rate of AI in marketing and other operational functions, on the contrary, has reached 25-30%. But here’s where many executives might be wrong: They think too far ahead when it comes to the integration of AI in strategy. Here are six levels of AI in business strategy, where Artificial Intelligence is applied and still has a lot of potential to save costs and drive speed on a massive scale: 1️⃣ Descriptive Intelligence: Reports for competitive analysis or studying the performance in different parts of the business. 2️⃣ Diagnostic Intelligence: Understanding root causes and performance drivers in retrospect. 3️⃣ Predictive Intelligence: Modelling future scenarios based on historic data and current market signals. 4️⃣ Advising Intelligence: Recommendation of value-generating actions based on data analysis. 5️⃣ Acting Intelligence: Delegating certain decision authority to AI under constraints and supervision. 6️⃣ Autonomous Intelligence: Analysis and decision-making without human interaction. The first three are already available, but it’s mostly the last two that executives seem to think about. When developing and scaling Workpath’s AI-based solutions, it is interesting to see how many organizations are still finding their way, establishing AI policies and committees. Leveraging AI for our customers, we invest a lot into an ethical approach with a maximum of transparency and clear guardrails. Looking at the current state of the market, the barriers to fully benefiting from AI in strategy work are rather organizational than technological. Visit our website to get a sneak peak of our very own AI OKR Quality Checker which officially went live today! 👉 https://hubs.la/Q02YTt4Q0 PS: Don't forget to sign up for our AI co-creation list, if you are interested in diving deeper (link in the comments). What are your plans to integrate AI into business strategy?

Why do even the most well-planned strategies stumble when it comes to execution? What’s actually preventing organizations from translating vision into impactful results? 👉 https://lnkd.in/dBBY9StT 👈 At Workpath, we see that the core issue often lies in foundational organizational capabilities - or more accurately, in the gaps within them. Capabilities encompass skills and talent, structures, collaboration models, culture, and access to customers. Yet many executives express concerns about these areas: >> They feel that digital units and delivery capabilities are underperforming, despite significant investment. >> Corporate functions that are crucial for strategy execution are often excluded because they are perceived as too slow or part of the problem. >> Simply hiring and replacing talent to build up capabilities isn’t enough. Root causes, such as a siloed organizational model and misaligned value streams, are often overlooked. The reality is that effective capabilities today need to be built cross-functionally, across departments, and in alignment with strategic goals. 👉 In the upcoming webinar on November 26th with Jan C. Wulff from Boston Consulting Group (BCG), we will explore these challenges and share practical solutions. Discover how leading organizations are shifting their operating models to break down silos and drive real value creation. Click on the link above and secure your spot ⬆️
