Meet Vitaliy Derkach, Senior Specialist, General Engineering at Yazaki Ukraine Vitaliy, you have been working for Yazaki for a long time. Yet only few people know about your talent for drawing. As a schoolboy, I used to make drawings for my friends. I think I was talented but didn't concentrate on it. I returned to drawing only a few years ago, during my IT courses. The first work I liked myself was a portrait of Bob Marley. Meanwhile I have a collection of more than 100 works. I draw portraits to order and constantly work on new ones. The works are exhibited on a Facebook platform to get advice or feedback. My goal in painting is to perfect my skills. How much time does one drawing take? About a week for a large-format portrait. If it’s A4, for example, it’ll take just about four hours. I always start drawing portraits from the eyes, this is the most important thing for me. What motivates you? I soon realized that you constantly need to develop, despite obstacles, to get out of your comfort zone, be ready for change and not be afraid of it. Only then will new achievements and people appear in life. This brings motivation and supports you. Life is a movement. Meet Derya Kose Aydogmus, Team Manager of the Mercedes Business Unit Design Team at Yazaki Türkiye Derya, can you tell us something about yourself and your current role? I have a working history of around 12 years at Yazaki in Türkiye. I started as Costing & Pricing Engineer for another Business Unit, then changed to the Mercedes Benz Business Unit. There, I started as a Design Engineer and Change Management Coordinator. In 2022, I was promoted to my current position as the Team Manager of the Design Team. What do you like most about your work? I have been working with a young, committed team here − colleagues who are also open to self-development. This makes me evolve everyday, gives me energy, motivates and makes me enjoy what I do. What are the main challenges in your field of work? One primary challenge is to consistently oversee new tasks within existing or upcoming projects, as well as manage project transfers to other plants. We manage this by working hard with all teams and by making them adopt innovations.. Is there anything special regarding the working culture in your country? People in Türkiye have the ability to master difficult tasks even faster than expected. Yazaki EMEA successfully passed the ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 TÜV Nord Matrix Certification Audits for the first time in our new headquarter in Belgium. No major or minor non-conformities were identified during the audits performed at the manufacturing locations and central functions in Braila, Ploiesti and Caracal (Romania), Dimitrovgrad (Bulgaria), Kuzuluk (Türkiye), and Uzhgorod (Ukraine) selected for 2024.
