🌍 Highlights and key takeaways from the Humboldt Kolleg! 🌍 From November 11-13, 2024, the #HumboldtKolleg, proudly supported by us and Alexander von Humboldt Foundation took place in Yaoundé, Cameroon and brought together over 150 participants to explore the theme "The One-Health Concept for Pandemic Prevention and Responses." The gathering included the heads of six Humboldt Research Hubs, their cooperation partners, and junior and senior scientists from various related research fields. The Humboldt Research Hubs and their partners showcased their scientific work, focusing on critical areas such as: - The study of antimicrobial natural products from fungi - Socio-ecological modeling of pandemic dynamics like COVID-19 in Africa - Zoonotic arbovirus diseases - Emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases - Surveillance and investigation of infectious diseases with pandemic potential in Central Africa - The role of religion, particularly the contributions of women as religious actors, in combating pandemics 💡 Key Takeaways: - Interdisciplinary collaboration and research across the hubs and beyond are essential. - Involvement of social sciences is crucial. - Engaging with communities and religious actors is vital for disseminating knowledge and fostering understanding of research.   It was a pleasure to connect and exchange ideas with so many outstanding scientists who are paving the way for a more integrated and effective approach to pandemic prevention and response. We were especially happy to reconnect with Olusola Ojurongbe from HRH-CERID LAUTECH, Ogbomoso and discuss next steps of our collaboration.   A huge thank you to the organizing team led by Simeon Kouam Fogue, the speakers, and all participants for making this event a success and for allowing us to present our social innovation and scientific programs.   Let’s keep the momentum going—collaborate, innovate, and engage communities and beyond! #HumboldtKolleg #OneHealth #PandemicPrevention #Research #Collaboration #PublicHealth #BayerFoundation @Charlotte Bäuml, Julia Winkel, Romain Glèlè Kakaï, James Olopade, Francine Ntoumi, EZRA CHITANDO, Marc Stadler, Benoit Nguelefack, Maurice Ducret Awouafack, Joseph Tchamgoue Tatjana Gust
