Premier Inn London Southwark (Tate Modern)

Apart from convenient location and two staff members that were hospitable, the hotel has a lot of issues!! Just mentioning some of the issues we experienced during our 9 nights stay: There was no WiFi neither in the room nor in public areas. Download 0.70Mbps and Upload 0.68 Mbps. I couldn’t even open my emails, let alone browsing, booking tickets, arranging transfers / taxis etc. Unbelievable and unacceptable for a hotel in 2024!! No solution from the staff that admitted that the WiFi is not operating and they couldn’t do anything about it. They forgot twice to clean our room during our 9 nights stay. We ended up emptying our bins and getting toilet paper from the reception. Also sleeping with dirty sheets throughout our stay because of a stain from our babies' food as they never chanced the sheets despite our request. Air Conditioning / heating was a joke. Set at 25oC but only cold air coming through. It was locked so we couldn’t set the temperature higher. After mentioning the issue to the staff, they changed the temperature at 28oC from the reception and the room got warmer, But during the night we woke up in a cold room as the A/C was off!! And we couldn’t turn it on from the room as it was locked. In the morning, we asked again the staff to fix the issue and the suggested a portable heater which we accepted as we had no other choice (excluding the option to locate a staff member every time the A/C was off). Not ideal with a two years old boy and 7 months old baby in the room!! Maybe for one night stay is ok if you don't mind the heating and the wifi issue.

We’ve been staying here for years, but it is starting to look tired. Cosmetic things in the Premier Plus rooms were disappointing. It didn’t stop functionality but ten minutes spent by the maintenance team could have fixed it e.g. sealant We’ve had similar issues in the past few years. It’s still clean and is a great location but that little attention to detail should not be difficult.

Very friendly & efficient staff. We needed a walk - in shower and after a chat they came up with the goods. Nice quiet room - away from traffic and trains. Easy walk to south bank, a couple of supermarkets nearby and good pub across the road! Recommend!

Stayed 4 nights. I like the location of the hotel. Took the Elizabeth line from Heathrow T5 to Bond St, then tube to Southwark. 5 min walk. Tesco Express, Sainsburys next door and a pub across the road. Not far feom Borough market a must see if your a foodie, and Tower Bridge etc. Hotel was quiet during the night so peacefull sleep. I thought all the staff were very friendly smiley and out to please especially the Indian lady at reception and the indian breakfast waitress. Lovely manner. The cost was reasonable and we had the breakfast too. Room was on 7 th floor, very comfortable. I’d defo stay again. Pre ordered Uber back to Heathrow £57, split between 4 people.
