Louie Provost, Disney‘s longtime Executive Vice President of Motion Picture Production, is set to exit his role at end of year, Deadline has learned.
Provost has been with Disney since 2007. Sources said that his contract was simply up and not renewed. No next destination was given.
“My time at Disney has been unforgettable – during my seventeen years here, I’ve had the opportunity to work with incredible filmmakers making projects we loved on all sorts of different scales, everything from big blockbusters like Aladdin and Maleficent to inventive comedies like Rescue Rangers and bold reinventions like Pete’s Dragon,” Provost said. “I’m so fortunate to have had mentors like Alan Bergman, Alan Horn, Sean Bailey, and David Greenbaum through the years, and am grateful for their trust and support during my time here.”
Provost started as an assistant at Disney before climbing up the production and development ranks. Titles he’s worked on apart from the aforementioned include Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, The Muppets and Saving Mr. Banks, as well as the upcoming Alexander and The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Road Trip and Lilo & Stitch.

Provost’s departure comes amid a period of change for Disney, which this fall has implemented hundreds of layoffs as part of ongoing cost-cutting measures. David Greenbaum joined the studio as president of Disney live action and 20th Century Studios in February, as Sean Bailey departed after 14 years. Meanwhile, the search for CEO Bob Iger’s successor continues, ahead of the expiration of his contract on December 31, 2026.
