Jeremy Gerard

Jeremy joined Deadline.com in April, 2014, after eight years at Bloomberg News, where he was a senior editor in the cultural news department, chief Broadway critic and human rights columnist. His career has taken him from the New York Times, where he was the Broadway reporter, to Variety, where he spent most of the 1990s as New York bureau chief and chief drama critic/reporter, to New York magazine, where he was Features Editor and Cultural Columnist for nearly a decade.

He has served as chairman of the jury for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, president of the New York Drama Critics Circle (in which he remains a member) and has taught cultural reporting and criticism at the Columbia University and New York University graduate schools of journalism.

His profiles, reporting and commentary have appeared in Vanity Fair, the New York Times magazine, Esquire, the Columbia Journalism Review and many of the country’s major newspapers. Jeremy’s highly praised book about off-Broadway, “Wynn Place Show: A Biased History of the Rollicking Life & Extreme Times of Wynn Handman and The American Place Theatre” was published in December, 2013.
