Jared Leto has become the first person to legally scale (a portion of) the iconic Empire State Building. The actor and musician did so to announce the launch of a world tour for his band, Thirty Seconds to Mars.
Leto climbed the east side of the building from floor 86 to 104 in approximately 20 minutes. Reaching 1,300 feet in the air, he ascended all three of the top tiers until he reached the base of the building’s famous antenna.
A skilled rock climber, Leto shared with Today, “The building is a testament of all the things that can be done in the world if we put our minds to it, which is largely the inspiration behind our most recent album, It’s The End Of The World But It’s A Beautiful Day.”
The band’s frontman announced that the tour is scheduled to run from March to September 2024, covering Latin America, Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand. This marks their first major tour in five years.
