We need your skills, enthusiasm and green heart for implementing more of our digital marketing initiatives. We know our market and customer segmentation and which key messages that are relevant to whom and at which time in the investment, design, tendering and execution phases of construction projects. We use and work intensely with LinkedIn, with Instagram and use HubSpot and Business Central. We increasingly want to implement webinars, increase our usage of paid digital marketing, blogs and further work with customer and project feedback inquiries by the use of HubSpot. We would like to nuance and improve our key messages to the different stakeholders, where e.g. building owners want key information on tonnes of CO2-e they save by choosing our industrially upcycled products. The architects need to know of design variables, aestetics and that we can deliver the products 12 - 36 months after they have specified them. Contractors want to know purchasing price, discount rates, installation procedures, technical documentation. We would like to hear from you, if you want to use your skills at a great atmosphere scale-up which is highly purpose-driven. We are looking for interns that are available for full semester. The built environment is responsible for the usage of ~ 60% of all raw materials extracted and processed from Mother Earth. Where, amongst many other great learning sessions, our Christian Wittrup will be hosting and facilitating a 90 minute session on how we as an industry should nuance our 'old Waste Hierarchy' towards an 'updated and more nuanced Resource Hierarchy' which is already planned in new and updated Rådet for Bæredygtigt Byggeri 2025 manuals. Why is this important? It is important because it has great impact on a) how we speak and terminologically approach 1-1 direct reuse, industrially upcycling or downcycling etc. That a:gain has a great impact on how we calculate LCA and EPD. That a:gain has a great impact on commercilisation, on scalablity, on digitalization, on documentation, on traceability, on competing on equal terms. In short: it is immensely important if we want a less climate-damaging real estate industry. Christian will be joined by Emil Eriksen from Artelia Denmark and Line Blæsberg Tellefsen from Rådet for Bæredygtigt Byggeri. Let's throw back to a project reference we've completed in 2019! We're excited to present Upcycle Studio, a pioneering development that stands as the world’s first commercially scaled circular housing project. Located in Ørestaden, Copenhagen, this innovative project consists of 20 terraced houses designed to push the boundaries of sustainable architecture. This project, led by the Lendager Group in collaboration with building owner Nrep and contractor AG Gruppen achieved impressive environmental results. In line with its circular economy principles, Upcycle Studios incorporated 75% of its windows from public housing in North Jutland, used 1,000 tonnes of concrete waste from the Copenhagen Metro, and built floors, walls, and facades with upcycled wood offcuts from Dinesen. What a:gain [again] delivered? We delivered a pre-development mock-up project delivery of Viddø in which we encountered the issues with using demolition facade glass for new facades. Instead, today we use demolition facade glass to make our interior glass partition walls, Tystø, where our Viddø is made from discarded pre-consumer industrial glass. Microplastics Found in Dolphin Breath for the First Time 🐬 A groundbreaking study has uncovered microplastics in the exhaled breath of bottlenose dolphins, highlighting a concerning new route of exposure for marine life. Even dolphins in rural locations like Barataria Bay, Louisiana, were found inhaling these airborne contaminants. Researchers, working with Sarasota Dolphin Research Program and National Marine Mammal Foundation, sampled dolphins’ breath using petri dishes over their blowholes. Shockingly, all 11 dolphins in the study exhaled microplastics, with most particles identified as polyester—a common polymer from clothing. The findings suggest that microplastic particles, known for spreading globally via wind, are now polluting dolphins’ airways. Leslie Hart, co-author of the study, emphasizes the gravity: “Dolphins have a much larger lung capacity and take deep breaths, potentially exposing them to higher doses of microplastics than humans.” This revelation is alarming, especially for dolphins in areas like Barataria Bay, still recovering from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, where lung health remains compromised. The intersection of oil pollution and airborne microplastics could exacerbate health risks. These findings remind us that microplastics are an environmental crisis, affecting even the most majestic marine animals. We’re thrilled to share a recent sustainable development that embodies innovation, commitment, and responsible building practices— Søren Jensen HQ, completed in 2024 and DGNB Gold certified. Located near DOKK1 in Aarhus, this 19,000 m² office building was made possible by a dedicated team, including architects Luplau & Poulsen Arkitekter, contractors Raundahl & Moesby A/S, and building owner Danica Ejendomme. Søren Jensen partnered closely with Danica Ejendomme to minimize the climate impact of building materials and interior designs. Together, they emphasized re-use and upcycling. Their approach included bio-based materials, 1:1 direct re-use of resources, and innovative upcycled products like a:gain's end-grain brick flooring Hjælmø or Tystø, our glass partitioning wall upcycled with DEKO. This project reflects how sustainable choices in design and construction can make a meaningful difference.
