Congratulations to the entire team behind 𝐋𝐈𝐌𝐄: 𝘓𝘪𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘥 𝘔𝘦𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘚𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘴 who just received an InnoExplorer grant from Innovation Fund Denmark 🧑🏻🔬 𝐄𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐫𝐚-𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞, 𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡-𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 Power semiconductors are key in electrifying modern society, however, thermo-mechanical stress in power semiconductors is a critical challenge yet to be solved to ensure optimal performance. Thermo-mechanical stress, as seen in photo two, occurs due to repeated heating and cooling cycles in the conductor, causing material expansion mismatches that can lead to fatigue, cracks, and reduced reliability. LIME’s innovative manufacturing technology utilizing liquid metals for power semiconductor modules is able to remove this vulnerability to thermo-mechanical stress. Furthermore, using non-toxic chemicals and low temperatures, the LIME technology is able to reduce waste and reliance on new resources while promoting a sustainable circular economy. 👉🏼 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐛𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐈𝐌𝐄: ➡ Up to 80x increased semiconductor lifetime, potentially leading to ➡ Up to 90% reduced system weight and cost The team consists of Associate Professor Szymon Bęczkowski and Assistant Professor Asger Bjørn Jørgensen from AAU Energy, and Professor Francesco Iannuzzo from Politecnico di Torino and Doctor Nick Baker from The University of Alabama - both previously from AAU Energy. We look forward to following the InnoExplorer project for LIME!
